  1. Really we some because somehow UConn dropped two TD's zero improvement from last year CWT is not the answer LOL .... Only 6 games in, with one short recruiting season but we know CWT is not the answer. God bless some of our fans. Haha. God bless them is right! These aren't his players pcaramal. Give him a break. If things don't continue to get better and at the end of next season we're still watching this kind of football then the skepticism is fair but right now it's not.
  2. It is so much nicer being on this side of the close games! I agree with most of what you said but I truly think that Cincy lost the game more than we won it and this game UCONN is just in awful shape, worse than us which is saying a lot. I'll take whatever we can get but I think Louisville and Houston will bring us down just as quick as these two wins have lifted us up.
  3. ??? We pinned them inside the 5 with 1:46 for a horrible offense?? Bet on our D. It worked out... I didn't say it didn't. I said I don't like a conservative play call in that situation. When you do that you're playing "not to lose" instead of playing "to win". Someone else mentioned it a few posts earlier about it reminding them of Holtz play calling and how we lost a few games last year. If UCONN doesn't have the worst game/time management there is in college football behind La Tech and Holtz they have the ball with 16 seconds, a timeout and the ball at the 50 yard line. That game easily could have gone into OT where as a first down on that 3rd and 6 and UCONN is buried.
  4. I hate a conservative play call in that situation.... play to win. 1st down and that game is over now Uconn gets the ball.
  5. This is like the battle of the worst teams in college football... brutal to watch
  6. I could handle that as long as it continues to get better this season. I hope we have an answer at QB in Bench or White or a recruit that commits to us.
  7. I am going to be out of the country so I will not be able to attend the game vs Louisville. I have two tickets, Section 240 Row D Seats 1 and 2 which are on the aisle. Looking for $30 a ticket but I am willing to negotiate. Email me if you're interested: mcschmid@mail.usf.edu
  8. Ever since I can remember back when I went to school 06-10' the homecoming games were at noon. Not sure why but it was just the way it was. Would love a later start but if history says anything it'll be a day game.
  9. Unfortunately, homecoming games tend to be noon kick offs . so that would be my bet.
  10. Listen... not everyone is a "die-hard" USF football fan. They still support USF and the sport programs but if the team is 0-4 and getting completely embarrassed on the field. It's okay if they decide their time is better spent with family or whatever they decide. I agree with you, that fans should try and make it out to as many games as possible but it is by no means pathetic for people to spend their time doing something else. Students don't have as much of an excuse as non students because the tickets are free, but people can't expect families to go out and pay serious money to watch this team right now. By serious money I don't mean thousands obviously, but a family of 4 with parking at $15 plus $10+ a ticket, plus whatever food/drink in the stadium you're already well north of $100. Either way, no reason to be mad at fans for not coming after what happened the first 2 games. This thread is about the students ... I get that. I was just pointing out both sides of it... Students don't have as big of a financial excuse as non students/families, but with that said how can you honestly not understand if a student decides their time is better spent studying, with family, or doing whatever the heck they want instead of going to see the football game especially under these circumstances? Not every student is going to be a die hard usf bulls football fan by default of going to school at USF. I don't think I would be near the fan of USF football if I was a student during the last 2+ years. I became one because I experienced games like West Virginia at home, @ FSU, Kansas at home, etc. The lower student section was full, or **** near full, for the MSU game. Showed me that at least those there got it and understood that this was truly a new era ......... I thought. Apparently their attention span was a lot shorter than I gave them credit for, at least for most of them. After, admittedly, a rough start, they don't show up for the start of the "second season", in a new conference?? Like I said earlier, if it had even been half full probably not a whole lot would have been said, but 300 freaking student tickets distributed?? .... Stop making excuses for them. Hopefully they've recognized the error of their ways and show back up, no matter what, for the next home game. They decided they had better things to do with their time as well as many other bulls fans. It should've been a lot more than that you're right, but at the same time the incoming freshman class are not going to be big time college football fans of USF right now due to the programs situation so you can almost count them out. The upperclassmen that are so frustrated with the state of the program are probably deciding to not go. It's unfortunate, but I don't see how anyone could blame any fan, student or not for deciding against going to a football game under these circumstances.
  11. What is a realistic timeline for the offense to be run smoothly? Taggart has been here since December of last year. So he had Spring Ball, Camp, and now the season. By no means do I expect it to be running smoothly by now but I would think by the end of this season would be a good expectation? What are your guys thoughts? To me, if it takes longer than Spring ball, camp, and a full season it may just be too complicated period. I know having a QB that sticks and is the main guy will help a lot but.

  13. Communicate to the students ...Bull .... **** ... It's college football. You've only got 6 or 7 days a year to come out and support your school and not coming tonight, the conference opener, was a joke. I could kind of understand if Holtz was still here but you've got a new regime, trying to get this thing turned around and you've got assclowns turning their back on the team already .... pathetic. Props to the ones that were there, though. Yes fans, you MUST spend one of your two hard earned days off per week (if you're lucky), along with your hard earned cash, watching a revolting team play for a pointless conference's title, with no chance of winning said pointless conference's title (much less a BCS title), lest you run the risk of being called the usual arsenal of insults by Super Fan Triple B. If you can't understand the reasons why people are not going to come out for this garbage then I'll assume you have Asperger's. Very well said.

  15. I listened to the show, and like you said, it was filled with coach speak. Can't believe that the moderator and Taggart indicated that the Bulls pulled it all together for the win. Seems to me that when you only have 241 total offensive yards and NO TDs from the offense, that's a far cry from "putting it all together." I know it's a win, but the USF offense has problems beyond just issues at QB. Although, this team is severely lacking in big playmakers from the skilled positions. WRs dropping passes or just giving up on the routes they run; the OL is just plain inconsistent and do not provide sufficient time for a drop back passer; and RB position without Shaw is very much below average. Bulls need more speed and athleticism at WR. I'm surprised we haven't seen more from Dunkley and Mut and Duval are supposed to have excellent speed to go with decent height; so I'm not sure what's going on at WR currently? WR appears to be a position crying out for serious recruitment this cycle. Agreed
  16. You heard it here first, Brad is calling it! On topic, many people, myself included, thought Woolard hit a "home run" by hiring Skip Holtz too. Can't we just once let things play out without having to constantly at every single moment in time be declaring USF's future to be either mind-blowingly amazing or suicidally depressing? Why do so many people constantly feel the need to make these grand, all-encompassing, all-or-nothing declarations with virtually no evidence gathered yet? Is it a cry for attention, or what? I think it's called being a fan and having an opinion. Just because something is "an opinion" doesn't mean it's not dumb as hell. Maybe you're not aware but a message board is usually there for info and opinions. If you don't like to read the opinions or they make you mad then don't read the threads.. So does this apply to you? What are you doing? I see you've been on this board for like two days, let me enlighten you: This thread falls in line with the theme I identified but you didn't bother to respond to. Haha what is going on...?? You asked a question in your post and I responded to that question. People make assumptions and make their own opinions based on what they've seen. It's almost natural to do as a sports fan of a team/school. it is a part of what makes sports so great and sometimes hard at the same time. If your team is doing awesome most make an opinion that they think the team can compete with any team out there, or that our RB is a heisman candidate or that we have a top 10 D in the country, etc. If your team is doing terrible, opinions tend to become there are issues with coaching, lack of talent, scheme, AD, etc. I may have gone overboard saying don't read the threads if you don't like people making assumptions like that, but I just was shocked at how floored you seemed to be by people having opinions of what is going to happen with our program rather then "letting things play out".

  19. this. The team has to give people a reason to go. Not the other way around. +2 Agreed. It's hard to create fans out of the students you have and have them want to go when you're getting embarrassed on the field.
  20. What other realistic option is there? Should have put the "just" wait and see, meaning there are great things to come. My bad bro. I am not really sure what options we have other than just letting thing develop. Sometimes I get the impression that people around here think college football is like the NFL and the AD is like an NFL GM. We can't just go out and pick up new players on the waiver wire or trade for new players. There is zero ability to change your roster during the season other than maybe go to the intramural field and find a walk on. The offense is not reliant on an NFL QB. It is reliant on a QB that doesn't have to be running for his life on every play. It also is important to have receivers that can catch the ball consistently when they are wide open. For the team, it sure would be helpful if the punter helps out by not punting only 15 yards or 2 yards from our own end zone. I don't think is a matter of waiting for Taggart to get guys in here that fit his system. I think it is a matter of the recruits either being better level talent and also physically getting stronger. The offense isn't reliant on an "NFL QB". However it is reliant on a VERY GOOD college QB if you want your team to be very good. Anyone can go out there with 3 TE's take a snap (except maybe Matt Floyd) and hand the ball off. We could be respectable with a very good offensive line and a very good defense with an average QB. But if we want to be a really good relevant (relevant to me is just outside top 25 rankings or in the rankings) team in college football in this style of offense we're going to have to have a very good QB. You can't hide a QB in passing situations in this offense. I don't see us getting the type of QB we need to be relevant anytime soon. Those types of QBs go to Notre Dame, Miami, Stanford etc. Every team is reliant on a "very good" QB. What team isn't. What kind of statement is that? Yea you got me. Good point. I guess I think the same way sheamanecw does with it. I think you need a better QB in this type of offense then you would in a spread where you can hide weaknesses by throwing quickly, read options, etc. But yea every team is reliant on a very good qb in order for success. I agree.

  22. Just because we didn't hear about efforts to get out, or actually get out, doesn't mean that Woolard and Judy didn't try. That is true. But because I did hear about other schools it just makes me think they didn't. Can't really blame my logic. Your logic sucks .... and you yourself give the reason why : But Trip, didn't you read his rationale for that logic? It's "Just because someone wants a new job and to make more money doesn't mean they do everything in there power to get one." So to USFbulls24, because not everyone that wants something goes out and does everything in their power to get it, that means that Woolard didn't. My rationale for that logic? Are you serious haha? Have you ever heard of a metaphor? I was simply saying just because someone wants to do something doesn't mean that they are going to do it. If you don't like the example okay but don't sit there and say that is my rationale... The principle of my rationale is within the same context but my rationale is not because a lot of people want a better job but don't go and get one. So even though that's the reason you gave for why you don't think Woolard did anything, that's not a rationale ... got it. My rationale is that I didn't see anything in the news, didn't hear any reports at all or anything of that nature about USF trying to get into a better conference while the big east was crumbling. Meanwhile, reports came out about other schools in the big east doing what they could to leave or reports about other schools actually leaving. The example of me saying just because someone wants to do something doesn't mean they actually do anything goes back to anyone using the argument of "you don't think he wants us to be in a better conference, thus making his future better..." or whatever was said along those lines. Get it?

  24. lol whatever you say. You obviously know he did everything in his power to get us out of the AAC and into a better conference. Silly me for thinking otherwise. Maybe you don't realize there is a major difference between "wanting" to do something and "ACTUALLY" doing something?
  25. LOL that is not the point!!!!!!! The point is the New York Jets thought he was a good enough candidate to take him early in the 1st round. They were wrong, and their team is paying for that mistake now. Doug Woolard thought Skip Holtz was a very good candidate. He was wrong and our team is paying for that now. AGAIN I am not comparing the situations and I know it is different, I am simply saying just because Doug Woolard or a NFL GM hires/drafts a "good candidate" doesn't mean everything is good and they did the right thing. Would you rather me use Jamarcus Russell with the Raiders? Ryan Leaf with the Chargers? Tim Couch with the Browns? Pick which ever you want. Difference being that the GM and Rex liked Sanchez. And after years, both are still employed. And Woolard relied on a professional search firm to find qualified candidates. And if I recall, LRS was on that jet to get Holtz. Doubt he would do that if he wasn't behind it either. Maybe you would be better served by suggesting USF sued that firm. You don't fire people for hiring qualified people. You fire the qualified employee when they don't meet performance expectations. No one in America in management would be employed if they were fired for hiring employees that didn't work out. I have never said that "Doug Woolard should be fired and fired right now". I certainly wouldn't be against it and I don't see how anyone could be though. A point I am making is at some point if he is the guy who hired Holtz the responsibility and accountability falls on him for that hire not working out. The main point I was trying to make was someone said "All he has done is hire great candidates for our head coaches". So that makes everything okay? Well at the time they were "great candidates"? Seriously? Just because a guy makes a hire who is a "good candidate" doesn't mean you wash everything else under the rug and forget what has actually happened. You really are having trouble understanding what drafting Mark Sanchez did to the Jets? Do you not remember the Jets were in the AFC championship game I believe 2 years in a row because their defense was so good? Can you imagine if they actually drafted a "good candidate" that actually ended up being good? Mike Tannebaum is not still employed and Rex Ryan is on his way out after this season. They drafted someone who they thought was going to be good and it didn't work out. Doug Woolard hired someone he thought was going to be good. It didn't work out. I understand there are extreme differences in the situations but its the principle of responsibility/accountability. He used a professional firm? Link? Never heard anything about that and on top of that since you're just defending every move this guy makes what do you hold him accountable for? Is his job description "hiring "good candidates" and firing coaches that "do something illegal, allow infractions to happen with their teams, and abuse players"? So in order for Doug Woolard to be successful to you as long as he is "hiring good candidates that is agreed with by "college sports experts" and firing coaches that "do the wrong thing" he's A+? For making $500,000 a year if you're his critic sound like he's got the best job in America. Does Google not work for you? And Woolard did NOT use a search firm after firing Holtz. http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/news?slug=td-newsflash011210 Wow... I am so so so so sorry. My sincerest apologies for not trying to google it. Give me a break.. I hadn't heard that this was the case so I was asking where I could read about it.
