The move comes just one year after UTSA announced a move to the WAC set to begin July 1. The Roadrunners are awaiting approval from University of Texas System Board of Regents, which has scheduled a vote on Wednesday. If approved, they would not have to pay an exit fee to the WAC. However, UTSA will have to pay a $2 million entrance fee to C-USA, according to CBSSports.com. Texas-San Antonio is coached by former Miami coach Larry Coker. (AP Photo) "Joining CUSA ... will provide greater national visibility and association with universities of similar enrollment, academic standing and community size," the Texas Regents agenda item reads, per The Associated Press. North Texas and Florida International from the Sun Belt and Louisiana Tech from the WAC are also targets for 2013 expansion, the website reports. Those four teams would replace Houston, SMU, Memphis and UCF, which are headed to the Big East. Meanwhile, the Mountain West Conference, which loses Boise State and San Diego State to the Big East, is expected to add Utah State and San Jose State in 2013, sources told CBSSports.com. If the realignment projections are realized, the WAC in 2013 would have only three remaining football programs—New Mexico State, Idaho and Texas State. Texas-San Antonio competes in the Southland Conference in its Olympic sports. Former Miami coach Larry Coker is the Roadrunners’ football coach. UTSA set the NCAA attendance record in its first year, averaging 35,521 fans. CBSSports.com has learned that Charlotte, which will launch its inaugural season in 2013, is also a possibility for C-USA expansion. It would not be eligible to compete in the conference until 2015. Who would have thought CUSA would outlive them .... this sucks.
