“I think without question, the Catholic 7 deserves the Big East name," Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino told USA Today on Thursday. "They should have, in my estimation, broken away from the football schools three years ago. I think they waited way too long. They should have been fed up a long time ago.

 

Although I agree with him, I wonder if Ricky would be saying this if he was still stuck here ...

Yes, there is some leagal basis for it.  All 7 of those schools were original Big East schools, what is left are the newbe's.

Yes, there is some leagal basis for it.  All 7 of those schools were original Big East schools, what is left are the newbe's.

 

Not entirely accurate .... Only 5 of the C7 were original BE schools and left behind UConn is not a newbie.

You are wrong.  UCONN joined a few years later. the original football members were, FSU, Miaimi, Va. Tech., Boston College, Syracuse 

Pitt., W.VA., Rutgers and Temple.

You're right, I was wrong. There are only 4 original members in the C7. Villanova joined a year later.
