Guest USF Bill
The Redskins have allocated eight players to NFL Europe, including two players who were promoted to the active roster for the team's season finale against the Minnesota Vikings. The complete list of Redskins assigned to NFL Europe is as follows: James Bethea, CB, California Nathan Black, WR, Northwestern State Rufus Brown, CB, Florida State Dahrran Diedrick, RB, Nebraska Pita Elisara, OL, Indiana Maurice Jones, LB, South Florida Ben Nowland, OL, Auburn Joe Tuipala, LB. San Diego StateThe 2005 NFL Europe season begins on Saturday, April 2 and concludes on Saturday, June 11 with World Bowl XIII. The league will hold its draft on Friday, Feb. 11 and players will report to training camp in Tampa, Fla., at the end of February. NFL Europe has helped develop football in Europe and generate interest in the sport around the world. As a league and developmental program, it has proven beneficial for current Redskins such as safety Todd Franz, quarterback Tim Hasselbeck and defensive linemen Brandon Noble, Cedric Killings and Demetric Evans. Evans spent the 2004 NFL Europe campaign with the Cologne Centurions and then earned a spot on the Redskins' 53-man roster at the end of training camp. He played in 12 games with eight starts last season, collecting 31 tackles and 2.5 sacks for the Redskins. Maurice Jones, LBJones signed with the Redskins in early January. The 6-1, 249-pound linebacker spent the 2004 preseason with the Green Bay Packers, but was released on Aug. 30. At South Florida University, Jones started the final 33 games of his collegiate career at middle linebacker and earned All-Conference USA honors as a senior team captain, leading the Bulls with 116 tackles in 11 games. He also notched 2.5 sacks and two forced fumbles.
