Big East/Big12

All the conference expansion/championship game talk has me thinking...

I wonder how difficult it would be to convince the NCAA to allow the Big East and Big 12 to join forces, sending each league's respective champion to a "Big Bowl" during conference championship week (13th game).

Would this take away from Bowl Season? I think the only BE/B12 bowl alignment would be a BCS game, could cause an issue if it ever played into a potential national championship for both schools. There are usually 2 SEC and/or 2 B10 schools in the BCS, so, they can work it out to not have repeat games.

Both would like a "championship" game, but, why dilute the conference to do this, join forces (including ESPN) and create a rivalry game between the conferences. This would really be no different than any other rivalry game played during the season. If UF/FSU were 1 & 2 in the BCS, their game could spoil it for one of them (ND/USC, GA/GaTech, WVU/Marsh...nevermind).

As it stands, a 1-loss team from a "less than 12" conference likely doesn't have a chance at a national championship. This could end up being something that catapults someone into the 2 spot if they were borderline going into championship week (or helps to hold on to the 2 spot over a team that has a conf championship... what if Cincy had the chance to play Texas last year before Kelly left...they may have won the game and gotten embarrassed in the national championship instead of against the gators).

...if only I ruled the world.

big 12/big east  championship game??? this is a playoff
