Gators in search of more from young receivers

If you found it odd that several receivers were missing from the rotation on Saturday, including redshirt freshman Andre Debose, so did Florida coach Urban Meyer.

It turns out, senior receivers Carl Moore and Deonte Thompson were in on nearly every play at the position, prompting serious concern about the readiness of the rest of the group.

"That's the first time that's ever happened here at Florida,’’ Meyer said. “You've got to get rotation in there. . . Last week going into the game every backup was a freshman or true freshman and we didn't feel they were ready to go, and that's not fair to the starters. So we have to get that fixed on offense.''

Although many of the young receivers were the subject of high praise during the preseason, Meyer said they weren't ready to play last Saturday.

"Lack of experience, lack of preparation,'' he said when asked about their absence from the game. . . "Especially when the game is tight like that, the last thing you need is a terrible mistake."

I like the fact that this will be the first game for Dubose at WR - sure he's good, I'll give him that... but an RS Freshman in his first ever college game ? He's bound to make a mistake or two... assuming he's even ready to play.  Heck, even veteran WRs make some mistakes in their first game of the season - see Deonte "Stone Hands" Thompson's drop of a TD pass.
