Mets have improved a lot, but they are kidding themselves if they think they have enough.

Yankees have improved their pitching, but their really hasn't improved (to be determined)

Giants actually have a closer, but still only one source of offense (bobblehead balco guy)

Sox as of now have downgraded pitching, but offense is still the same, which is a good thing.

The hot stove is far from over, so those teams that are doing well, may fall on their face or vice versa.

big winners thus far:

Mets

Yankees

Giants

Arizona if they keep RJ

losers thus far

Sox

Mets (they belong on both lists since pedro will likely be a bust for 2 of the years)

Seattle (overpaid for richie sexton)

Arizona (if they trade RJ)

as i said, it wouldn't be hard to jump from list to list.

Yankees have overspent for wright, but overall they have done well.  If they get RJ, they will probably overpay for them, but it would pay off this year and hurt them down the road.

Sox signing Renteria is a good thing, but they have to land at least 1, maybe 2 of (hudson, clement, Burnett) to get to the winner list, and keeping Varitek would boost them to that list too... losing him would be a big blow to the leadership of the team.

Seattle just moved to the winners column, but they still paid too much for sexton.

They just signed Adrian Beltre for 63 Mill.  Its alot of money, but i think Beltre is a better player than Sexton.  The 2 together make them a winner, but they still will not win the west.

Yankees solidified their stance on the winners list by picking up Randy Johnson (although they did lose vazquez... not really that big of a loss, and 2 prospects, whom probably weren't very good anyway)

Rotation:

Johnson, Mussina, Pavano, Brown, Wright

pretty good rotation if it stays healthy.

Keep you eyes on Dioner Navarro.  I thought he was the one who would replace Posada in a couple of years....

They haven't picked up Johnson yet.  Although they probably will, don't count your chickens before they hatch.

Sox will not get Burnett now that Hudson has been moved... the marlins were essentially holding out for Hudson or at least a starter of equal value, which there really isnt on the market anymore

Clement will decide today and prob ends up with the Sox

Boston should be very thankful today.... Johnson deal looks pretty shaky right now with Green not wanting to move and LA wanting cash with Vazquez which would cause holdups from the league.

AND the Yankees were CLOSE to landing Hudson in a deal earlier this week that would have been HUGE

True about Hudson.

I have heard of Dionner... he is essentially (or was) the Yanks entire farm system.  Now you have pretty much nothing.  I haven't heard of any other names in the past besides Navarro.

The other guy in the deal is a complete no name, at least to me.

Eric Duncan and Navarro were the players of year the last two years in the Yanks farm system.  Duncan plays thirdbase and it would have been hard to beat out the Yanks current thirdbaseman.   ;)
