TAMPA - On another steamy day in the Bay Area, the University of South Florida men's basketball team took to the street to visit the Temple Terrace Reads festival on Saturday morning.

The Bulls talked with festival-goers about the role school has been in their lives, then played basketball with the youth in attendance. The USF cheer squad, dance team and Rocky also attended the event.

"Our student-athletes were extremely well-received at the Temple Terrace Reads festival," said Justin Miller, Assistant A.D. for Academics and Student-Athlete Development at USF. "In spite of the fact that this week has been the hottest of the fall, the students did a great job representing the department and continuing our established relationship with the community. We thank Coach Stan Heath for facilitating his team's participation."

The Temple Terrace Reads Festival is a literacy program aimed at stressing the importance of academics which was held at Temple Terrace Elementary school, and was sponsored by the city of Temple Terrace, the Hillsborough County School District and the Temple Terrace Chamber of Commerce.

The free family fun festival had more than 30 booths with storytelling, crafts, book authors and book gift bags this year.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

Act like you’ve been there before. Turns out, for many of us, we haven’t been there before.
