According to the paper Zimmer took himself out of running but was never offered the job.

they reported he turned them down

nonetheless the fact that they didn't have a candidate ready to step  in after solich demonstrates gross AD incompetence

ESPN couldnt be wrong. I dont even think Zimmer ever even interviewed for the job and the AD has said he wil interview Bo Pellini and Turner Gill before offering anyone the job. The ARK coach said he was offered the job the other day and the Nebraske AD said he did not offer it to him. There is some spinning going on but I dont think Zimmer was offered the job or would even say he was offered the job.
