USF Coach Jim Leavitt says team 'did a great job' in night showing

USF Coach Jim Leavitt was pleased with his team's performance in Wednesday's late-night scrimmage on a night veteran leaders QB Matt Grothe and DE George Selvie were held out.

"I wanted to scrimmage under the lights, and we got it in," Leavitt said. "Offensively, they did a great job. [QB] B.J. Daniels had a good night, and [QB] Evan Landi looked good. All the running backs looked good."

WR Dontavia Bogan broke a tackle for a touchdown reception from Daniels, and freshman RB Lindsey Lamar, continuing a strong start, scored a touchdown, as did junior RB Aston Samuels.

•Bulls bits: The Bulls will hold one more closed scrimmage Saturday, then begin a normal game-week schedule as the fall semester begins next week. ... Nate Frazier, a two-year starting nose guard at Navy who was recently dismissed from the football team, could be transferring to USF for his final year, according to the Annapolis Capital.
