Friday nights to Saturday heights: Tyson Butler

South Florida redshirt sophomore Tyson Butler is a 2007 graduate of Cypress Lake High.

Butler saw limited action in 11 games last season. He made five tackles while playing on special teams as well as in the secondary. Butler will see action in USF's nickel packages. He'll join Southwest Florida products Nate Allen (Cape Coral High) and Quenton Washington (Fort Myers) in the Bulls' defensive backfield.

Butler, who will be 20 on Monday, is from a family of achievers. He has eight siblings, one of whom is a doctor and another of whom is in the Navy.

The Bulls will open their season Sept. 5 when they'll host Wofford.
