Bulls Tabbed No. 11 In NSCAA Top 25

TAMPA (August 14, 2009) – Fresh off one of the most successful seasons in the program’s history, the University of South Florida men’s soccer team gets a chance to enjoy some early accolades just before the 2009 campaign kicks off. USF comes into the 2009 season ranked No. 11 in the preseason National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas Preseason Top 25 poll.

The Bulls are one of just four BIG EAST Conference teams ranked in the top 15, behind only St. John’s who is slotted in the No. 5 spot. Connecticut and Notre Dame find themselves tied for 12th while Louisville is the only other conference team in the poll ranked at No. 25.

USF will open the exhibition portion of its schedule on Monday night when it butts heads with Tampa at 7:30 p.m. in the annual Rowdies Cup at the USF Soccer Stadium. Following Monday’s game the Bulls will hit the road to face Akron on Aug. 21 at 7 p.m. before closing out their exhibition slate on Aug. 27 at home against Stetson. USF will open the regular season on Sept. 1 when it faces in-state rival UCF at 7:30 p.m. at home.

Last year, USF turned in a 15-5-3 record and a 7-3-1 slate in conference play. After winning the BIG EAST tournament championship, the Bulls advanced to its 13th NCAA Tournament – and it’s third in the past four years. After a first round bye, No. 8 seed USF would defeat Harvard, 2-1, in the second round, and then defeated UNC Greensboro, 3-1 in penalty kick’s, in the Sweet 16 to advance to the NCAA Elite Eight.

Season and group tickets can be purchased by calling 1-800-GoBulls. All individual tickets can be purchased by logging onto Ticketmaster or at the USF Soccer Stadium ticket office one hour prior to the start of the game.

A season ticket for the 2009 season is $40 for adults and $20 for juniors and seniors. Individual tickers are $6 for adults and $3 for juniors and seniors. Group tickets are $2.50 per ticket for groups of 10 or more.
