GURGEL TABBED BIG EAST PRESEASON PLAYER OF THE YEAR

TAMPA – University of South Florida’s Marcela Gurgel was named as the BIG EAST Preseason Player of the Year and the Bulls are picked to finish fourth in the BIG EAST Conference, the league announced Friday.

The Fortaleza, Brazil, native is a two-time All-American and three time All-BIG EAST First Team member. In the national statistics, Gurgel ranked third in aces per game and 14th in kills per set. Gurgel compiled 585 points last season, which led the team. She also placed first in the conference with a kills (476) and aces per set (72).
