Congrats to coach George Kiefer for another great soccer recruiting class.

11.  South Florida - This was an important recruiting class for the Bulls because they lost a lot of key players due to graduation from the 2008 squad that won the Big East Championship and advanced to the Elite Eight in NCAA Tourney play. George Kiefer responded with an impressive eight member class that should contribute immediately.  The name to watch is forward Hasani Sinclair from Coral Springs, Florida out of American Heritage High School.  Sinclair is a member of the U.S. U-18 National Team and was a Parade All-American.  Defender Ashani Fairclough who is a member of the 2009 Jamaican U-20 National Team has what it takes to be an impact player.  Midfielder Shawn Chin, who is a junior transfer from Boston College, is among other members of the class who will immediately add value.

Tampa, FL - University of South Florida men’s soccer head coach George Kiefer, and his staff, knew that it had another standout recruiting class coming in to help his team defend its BIG EAST Conference title this year, and now it seems that College Soccer News (CSN) is hopping on the bandwagon as well.

CSN, who recently released its Top 40 recruiting rankings, ranked this year’s Bulls recruiting class as the 11th best in America, and the second best in the BIG EAST Conference. In all, six BIG EAST schools are listed in the poll.

“This is tremendous recognition for our program,†said Kiefer. “It’s a testament as to how hard my coaching staff has worked to get some of the best soccer talent, not only in the United States but internationally, to come to USF and help us reach our goal of winning a national championship.â€

This year’s incoming class of eight players includes: Alvaro Bastidas, MF, America Heritage High School, North Lauderdale, Fla.; Alex Brisbane, MF/F, Lincoln Community School, Accra, Ghana; Shawn Chin, MF, Boston College, Miami, Fla.; Ashani Fairclough, D/MF, Wolmer’s Boys High School, Portmore, Jamaica; Kevin Olali, MF/F, Plano East High School, Plano, Texas; Carlos Rivero, D, Carabobo, Venezuela; Hasani Sinclair, F, American Heritage High School; Alex Spock, GK, Land O Lakes High School, Land-O-Lakes, Fla.

Of the eight newcomers, six were on campus this summer attending classes, getting accustomed to college life and preparing for the upcoming season.

The Bulls finished this past season as the 2008 BIG EAST Champions, including a perfect 8-0-2 record at home. During the NCAA tournament, the Bulls beat Harvard, 2-1, in the second round, and then defeated UNC Greensboro, 3-1 in penalty kick’s, in the Sweet 16 to advance to the NCAA Elite Eight.

not a huge soccer fan but i like to make a game or 2 every season. we were top 8 last year and my favorite win was here against Harvard. their alumni were so polite. it would have been nice to meet dartmouth if they had won their playoff game ( i think we would have met them...) go bulls in 09!

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
