Despite doubt, Blake's McFarland still committed to UF

Ask Blake wide receiver Michael McFarland and there's no question. He's still committed to UF.

Following Monday's practice, the Yellow Jackets' 6-foot-5, 230-pound rising senior made it clear, but also reiterated that he would still like to make some official visits.

But there was enough doubt was enough for UF assistant head coach Dan McCarney to make a trip to Middleton High School Monday morning to talk to new Blake coach Harry Hubbard.

"He was there at 7:30 in the morning," Hubbard said. "He said he was there to drop off some cards for the new coach, but that he wanted to talk to me and make sure that Mike is still with them and I said yeah. They really want him, but I know USF is trying to come on strong."

McFarland recently made a visit to watch a spring practice at USF.

"I think he's going to stick to it," Hubbard said. "I always tell kids that once you make a commitment, that's your word. Your word is your bond. If you're not going to commit, then don't say it."
