All this was on this board last summer. The best solution for football and basketball would be to drop N.D., DePaul and Marquette and add Memphis giving the league 14 teams. What you get is a top flight B.B. team and what could be a good football team.
Guest Mr. AKA
Who are the basketball only schools, Marquette and DePaul? I never liked them as a fit in the league to begin with. They fit with playing the Midwestern teams such as Notre Dame, Louisville, and Cincinnati but who cares. Marquette, DePaul, St. John's, Seton Hall, and Providence don't have footballGTown and Villanova do but, I think they are FCSMake those two step up their programsLure Memphis from CUSAMake Notre Dame join for football (this will never happen because of the NBC deal)That leaves us one short, the MAC has 13 teams, lure one of their schools to the Big EastTrade out DePaul w/ CUSA and drop Notre DameThat leaves us with 16 in basketball and 12 in football....Conference Title game in Fball, two divisionsEast and WestEast:UCONN, Cuse, Rutgers, Gtown, Pitt, WVUWest:USF, Lou, Cincy, Memp, Nova, MAC School

There will never be 12 teams in the Big East for footballThey are not going to be able to poach big progams like the ACC did to the Big East a few years ago.I realize my idea was a little far fetchedBut who else is there to add?
