Saturday, August 28- Live* at 4p.m from Tropicana Field – Preseason football action- Defending 4A State Champ Armwood vs. 2001 5A Runner Up Chamberlain.

BATTLE OF THE BAY 2004: This Saturday!

Date: Aug 26, 2004

Three games, six football teams will make history on Saturday in the Tropicana Dome in St. Petersburg as Florida's first ever high school football games will be played indoors.

Orlando-area promoter Randy Younker has teamed up with 'Mr. High School' Steve Berrey to create Florida's first-ever indoor high school football game. Not just one game - three. It's the Inaugural Battle of the Bay Kickoff Classic and it's set for August 28 at Tropicana Field.

The triple-header will feature Dunedin vs. St. Petersburg in the first-ever indoor high school football game in Florida. Kickoff is set for 1 PM. Immediately following that game, (approximately 4 PM) Armwood, the state's defending 4A champion, will face off with Chamberlain - which features Hillsborough County's all-time winningest coach - Billy Turner. The Armwood/Chamberlain game will be broadcast live on Brighthouse Channel 47. The final game of the evening will feature five-time state champion Manatee taking on Hillsborough at 7 PM. All three games will be broadcast live on ESPN Radio 1470 AM.

The day-long event is presented by Beef O'Brady's Family Sports Pubs, Brighthouse Networks Channel 47, The St. Petersburg Times, ESPN Radio 1470 AM and Wendy's Old Fashioned Hamburgers. In addition, three Dodge dealerships have sponsored a localized game. Dayton Andrews Dodge will sponsor the Dunedin/St. Petersburg game; Bob Wilson Dodge will sponsor the Armwood/Chamberlain game while Bob Boast Dodge/Volkswagon will sponsor the Manatee/Hillsborough game.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
