that may be true, but the groundwork was the proper step... he can always screw it up... but this part of the situation was done properly...

rumor central shows Ainge is hot on Shareef-Abdur Rahim from Portland, who wants out.  He's good for 20 and 10 nightly.

And everyone is raving about Al Jefferson, even more than Pierce right out of college.

I do hear all the talk on Al Jefferson and hope it is true. The last guy that got them this fired up was young star in the making Kedrick Brown who was just traded for the 3rd time in less then a year.  Shareef is no leader. I dont think he has ever played on a playoff team in his career.

well he played for the Grizzlies and Atlanta... he was doomed in both jobs... celts don't need a leader, pierce is their leader... they need solid contribution from a big man, and that is all shareef has ever done... be quiet and do your job.  Let Payton run his mouth and be a leader.

I do like the potential lineup if they get shareef

Payton/Delonte West

Ricky Davis... although they might move him for shareef

Pierce

Shareef/Jefferson

Blount

Nothing spectacular, but improved over last year for sure.

Best thing Celts have going their way is that they play in the east. They could win their conference or could come in dead last and that could be a difference of 10 wins or so? East sucks and the North division is by far the worst.  Hopefully NJ gets rid of Kidd and he goes out west.

Shaq isn't a one man team... he gives them a huge edge, yes... but if he makes for an automatic championship... then why did detroit walk all over the lakers... because team work is more important.  I'd say miami has the best chance in the east to get to the finals, but that isn't a 100% chance... detroit is still right there.

lakers lost because kobe didn't want to feed shaq

shaq has too be first option most of the time

kobe didn't incorporate other players like magic

kobe is not as good as jordan

kobe can't shoot

kobe wanted to chuck the ball

Shaq still cant shoot free throws and in the east there are very few centers so the hack a shaq will be deployed nightly. Shaq hates that defense and he will be nuts. You can still beat a shaq led team by putting him on the line in 4th qtr as much as possible.

funny, but it didn't work for 3 years in a row

and lakers made it to finals last year

if shaq comes into camp in shape, plays hard and is number one scoring option and thre are a couple of players that can knock down shots, miami will have an easy road to championship

lakers will not even sniff the second round of the playoffs

Lakers didnt win the last two years? A lot of teams out west think their center can hang with Shaq and dont employ the hack a shaq that eastern teams do.  Detroit is still team to beat in East.
