At Saratoga race track.  "The August place to be". If you have never been to a day at the races at Saratoga I reccomend you plan a trip.  It is a great place and a great atmosphere and a beautiful area.  If you have kids you can run 30 minutes up the road to Lake George which has a ton of family stuff like amusement parks, boat rentals, mini golf etc...
