smazza Posted June 4, 2004 Group: Member Topic Count: 9,898 Content Count: 66,091 Reputation: 2,434 Days Won: 172 Joined: 01/01/2001 Author Share Posted June 4, 2004 Just when it appeared the California gubernatorial race – which already includes actor Arnold Scwazenegger, former child star Gary Coleman, comedian Gallagher, Hustler publisher Larry Flynt and a stripper named Evangeline – couldn’t get any stranger, John Henry Williams, son of baseball hall of famer Ted Williams, announced today that his father’s severed head would enter the race.Williams’ son said the decision came down to where Williams’ name would appear on the state ballot. Under the state’s lottery-style system, the reordered 26-letter alphabet -- beginning R, W, Q, O, J, M, V, A and eventually ending with L -- is applied throughout candidates' names.“It had been my father’s wish to run for governor of California,†said John Henry Williams. “When we discovered that the letter ‘W’ would be the second letter in the revised California alphabet, my dad decided to jump in feet first … er … well, you know.†A Sports Illustrated article released last week quoted former Alcor Life Extension Foundation Chief Operating Officer Larry Johnson as saying that Williams' body was decapitated by surgeons before being suspended in liquid nitrogen. Johnson told the publications that several holes had been drilled into his head, which was also accidentally cracked 10 times. In addition, the article alleged that several samples of Williams' DNA are missing. The timing of the gubernatorial announcement was interesting as the New York Times reported yesterday that Johnson said company officials suggested they would ship Williams' body to John Henry Williams if the son didn't pay the money he still owes the company.According to the report, John Henry Williams still owes the foundation $111,000. The entire preservation process costs $136,000.An Oxnard, Calif. gubernatorial candidate who said he was a “Muan†named U-386 from the planet “Myton,†accused John Henry Williams of simply trying to dump his debt on the state of California.“If that severed head gets elected, it will be the responsibility of the people of California to pay off the existing debt,†U-386 told SPORTING PRESS. “We already have a deficit in this state and the only way to reduce it is to open interplanetary trade between California and Myton.†
