Well, we've already got a great staff in place for next year, minus the 2 grad assistants(money is not an issue there).  We'll have another 100,000 to go around during the next "assistant shuffle."  Shouldn't be too bad.  We're getting there.  More money doesn't always mean better results (see UCF).

In related news it looks like we dodged a bullet by retaining douglas after minnesota offered him a nice pay increase....according to Brett's blog today.

A few more years of winning and increased fan support and this program will be very financially sound.  They're doing the right thing by trying to spend responsibly since we are still such a young program with a questionable fan base.

more reasons to get salaries up asap

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - After losing four assistants in the past month, the University of South Florida nearly lost a fifth assistant Friday night. However, safeties coach Troy Douglas told me he decided to remain at USF, turning down an offer to coach the secondary at the University of Minnesota...Douglas said he also recently turned down an offer to be running backs coach at Middle Tennessee. in the past month, USF lost assistants Rod Smith (West Virginia), Greg Frey (West Virginia), Lawrence Dawsey (Florida State) and Bernard Clark (Florida International).

We really ought to put together a list of all the things "USF Needs to do".  It would be quite extensive.  I think if we had this list, some (not all of course) might understand the quandary we find ourselves in as a rapidly growing institution whose objectives and fundraising are racing to keep up.

Very true bulliever.  At least there is a pretty decent plan in place to take care of the assistants' salaries.  CJL is still pushing for that dinning hall.  Hope he gets it soon.
