Sorry it's taken a while to get to this.  It's not exactly the best area of town, but you're not going to get killed or anything like that either.  There will be several restaurants and such nearby, but no nightlife or anything like that... but as you said, if that doesn't matter to you, it should be fine.  It's probably also not a very "walkable" area, so you'd probably want to drive to any nearby restaurants or wherever.  There's a new mall that's opened in nearby Trussville that's near where you'd be staying (if that interests you or your wife or whomever)... it's called the Pinnacle at Tutwiler Farms.  It's near where I-59 and I-459 meet.
