Just to update -- USF volleyball earned the eighth and final spot in the Big East tournament, by virtue of Villanova losing to top-seeded St. John's today. Both the Bulls and 'Nova finished 7-7, but USF swept the regular-season meeting between the two schools.

Bulls did lose five of their last six league matches, all in three games, so they're certainly backing in, but that has a lot to do with a schedule that put the tough teams at the end of the year. to go from 1-13 to 7-7 is a huge improvement in any sport.

Great news, now they just need to execute.  Any news on the brackets yet?

They're the eighth seed, so I'd think that means they get top-seed St. John's (undefeated in regular season) ... when USF played St. John's in regular season, it was 30-12, 30-19, 30-17 ...

Wow. St. John's hadn't gone to five games in league play all season, but 'Nova took them there today, trying to get the last spot in the league tournament. Here's the score: 30-27, 30-32, 27-30, 30-15, 15-9 ... so Nova was up 2-1 in games ...

And the Big East website actually for a while said Villanova won!!  Had Nova at 8-6 and St. John's at 13-1... I was ready to raise accusations of intentionally losing!  A 26-1 team loses on Senior Day at home?  I don't think so:)

Congrats to the ladies, they said to me earlier they thought they could play much better against St. John's then they did three weeks ago, so now they'll get that chance.
