Bulls offense absolutely frigid on chilly night

   With a chance to showcase itself to a national audience, USF turns the ball over three times.

CINCINNATI - With a national ESPN audience tuning in Sunday night, USF had the best chance to showcase its football program since its bowl debut in December.

But until the final minute, it was all too much like that game, with the Bulls unable to muster a single point, struggling offensively in a humbling 23-6 loss to Cincinnati.

"They certainly dominated us, they really did," USF coach Jim Leavitt said. "You've got to give Cincinnati a lot of credit. Their defense, we knew they were really good."

USF quarterback Matt Grothe, who entered ranking among the national leaders in total offense, accounted for two of the Bulls' three turnovers and amassed just 69 yards of total offense before leaving the game in the fourth quarter, needing stitches to close two cuts on his nose.
