anyone to ever play game accept mays

Reds manager Dave Miley walked Barry Bonds again, and paid for it again.

AP

Marquis Grissom is congratulated by Barry Bonds and J.T. Snow after hitting a first-inning homer.

Bonds led off the 10th with an intentional walk, advanced on Edgardo Alfonso's double and came home on Deivi Cruz's sacrifice fly, giving the San Francisco Giants a 7-6 victory Sunday over Cincinnati.

Miley chose to walk Bonds intentionally in the series opener to face Pedro Feliz, whose two-run homer set up a 6-1 victory on Friday night.

Bonds was 0-for-4, extending his slump to 0-for-15, when he led off the 10th against Danny Graves (1-3) and got another intentional walk. Alfonso followed with his double down the line, his third hit of the game, to beat the strategy again.

Jim Brower (1-2) got Ryan Freel to ground out with the bases loaded in the ninth, keeping it tied.

The Giants blew three leads, the last of them in the ninth when Matt Herges failed to hold a 6-5 lead. Barry Larkin tied it with a sacrifice fly.

Sunday's MLB Action

American League

· Orioles 12, Indians 11

· Tigers 5, Rangers 3

· Blue Jays 5, White Sox 2

National League

· Astros 2, Braves 1

· Giants 7, Reds 6 (10)

· Cardinals 5, Expos 2

The Reds' defense, among the majors' worst for the second straight season, committed three errors that led to three unearned runs. Juan Castro, usually a sure-handed infielder, had two errors at third base.

Bonds' slump coincides with a severe sinus infection that sidelined him for three games. On Sunday, Bonds struck out, grounded out twice, hit a routine fly and walked intentionally, dropping his average from .403 to 379. He doesn't have a hit in his last six games but has walked 15 times, nine of them intentional.

A day after he hit a pair of solo homers, Ken Griffey Jr. was just as quiet, going 0-for-3 with two walks and two strikeouts.

Marquis Grissom's two-run homer in the first inning got the Giants going against Todd Van Poppel, but Castro's two-out, two-run double off Brett Tomko tied it at 4 in the sixth inning.

J.T. Snow's sacrifice fly put the Giants up 5-4 in the seventh, but Sean Casey tied it again with a two-out homer off Scott Eyre in the bottom of the inning.

The Giants went up by a run in the ninth, when the Reds failed to turn a double play on Snow's grounder with the bases loaded. Herges couldn't hold on, blowing a save for the second time in 12 chances as a fill-in for the injured Robb Nen.

Tomko, who was part of the trade that brought Griffey from Seattle in 2000, wasted a three-run lead against his former team. He is 1-2 in six starts with a 6.57 ERA against the Reds.

He threw 32 pitches in the first inning alone, only 14 of them strikes, and walked three consecutive batters with two outs to force in a run.

If bonds can win so many games by himself, how come the giants dont have a winning record?

Bonds now under .400 and dropping fast.  Not that it matters, with all the walks, he won't have enough at bats anyway.

VG

Batting champ is based on plate appearences so if he went 1 for 1 and walked 501 times he would win title batting 1.000

In order to qualify for batting titles in averaged categories (Avg, Slg, OBP, OPS, RC, OW%, #P/PA, G/F), a player must average at least 3.1 plate appearances for every game his team has played. Sorting by qualified year-to-date excludes all players not currently on pace to reach that minimum

In particular, note Average and RBI.  Baroid isn't producing as many runs as he should for someone who gets on base as much and has such a high slugging percentage.

I'd expect more from "the greatest player who ever *cough* played"   ::)

Barry is going to get very very frustrated with losing and walking so much... he's going to walk away from the game like the ingrate he is (and has always been).
