Personally I don't mind guest posters but just a few things. Freedom of speech is one thing but private clubs, groups etc... have the right to make up rules of conduct including limiting what people say. While its true that the public has access to this board, it is still Brad's board and as such it is his right to make rules as he likes and hold everyone who comes here accountable.

Also, since registration is free there is zero hindrance to posting even if registration is required.

All in all I doubt we would really see much difference in these type of posts regardless of allowing guest posters or not. Boards that require registration have the same problems just caused by dupe nics instead of guest postings. It seems that some people just love to start trouble and will ususally go through hoops in order to do so and it is most likely an average person posting that won't "bother" to register.

Making people register for the board, while more time consuming to pests, will not end the problem entirely. There are services available that allow you to create a temporary e-mail account on the fly so that you can get that initial e-mail and finish your registration process.

You want them to stop? Don't respond to anything you fell is complete horsecrap. I would guess 90% or more of these posts are put here solely to get a rise out of someone.

While I hate to add to this ridiculous post, I felt the need to throw in my two cents. Feel free to ignore my comments and let this piece of dog crap fall off the main board.

If there were any feature I would like to see available on a message board-- it would be the ability to ignore the posts of certain users when you want to do so. Too often I see someone dredge up some topic that is a week old or older float to the top because someone wanted to say something briliant like "I agree" or "way to go USF". That's my peeve-- maybe it's yours as well. But I don't see much we can do about that type of wasteful posting. I doubt the people doing this realize that we don't know if something useful was actually posted on that thread prior to them giving it the old "atta boy". So we open them and ugghh-- nothing but crap to read. I realize that may have offended some of our posters who do this non-stop. But is a high post count really meaningful if you are not adding one iota of thought to the process?

Seriously, ignoring works to a certain degree but if the board runs into blatant attempt to flame then the mods  should delete the post. Otherwise why have moderators?

Last year when I was going to the other teams sites I had to register.  I could read, however I could not post.  It was not a big deal.  Don't know how hard that is to do, but it would cut down on the drive bys.  As far as people saying anything they want, not a big deal.  A little controversay makes it fun.

I think the general consensus is against censorship but for blowing up the drive-bys. You do have some drive-bys that have added content but most appear to be inbreds ...........
