I think Verpaele has a decent chance to sign as a FA.

Unless he changed his mind recently, Verpaele is done with football and not even in football shape to workout for scouts. My understanding is that he is already employed as a high school teacher in Merrit Island.

I thought so too, but I understand he did work out on USF Pro day. I don't think his time was too good. I bet his brother does better when his day comes.

Evidently, Verpaele didn't work out. It was Vince Brewer I was thinking about with the slow time.

It's funny to see a kid's real 40-times come out. Remember when Brewer and Callum were touted as legit 4.5 guys?

All you have to do is watch the action on the field. People with legit 4.5 times don't get caught from behind very often and explains why Callum never seemed to break the big runs his press clippings suggested he should do on a regular basis.

With that said, those times are really slow. Perhaps both Brewer and Callum were hurt. I would hate to think they could be outrun by some of our defensive linemen.

Last year USF had three players on USF pro day timed at around 4.35: Rubin, Smith and Hearns. We lost a LOT of speed.

Hearns turned down a chance to play in AFL to Coach at USF.
