They didn't have a hold because Robinson was old and out of touch with today's youth. Then they brought in Paul Hackett who was KNOWN in circles to not be a very efficient recruiter.

Evidently you missed the point though. USC had a WEALTH of talent in the region that was being brought to schools like Oklahoma, Texas, Miami, and FSU. Carroll being a good recruiter was able to keep these guys in Cali...They are the ONLY school out west that has what can be considered a annually top 15 program, therefore he was the 1st to establish this. USC is a traditional power and traditional powers with the right coaches should be able to pick up and dominate.

As for the current state it does not bode well they have several NCAA infractions (I work in NCAA Compliance) that could ultimatley lead to SEVERE sanctions, this is almost a MIRROR of what happened to Miami and Dennis Erickson in 2002.

What Leavitt has done at USF is a bigger accomplishment than what Carrol has done at USC

usc was nothing for more than half a decade until carroll arrived

joe and flbeach dont know what you are talking about when it comes to the revival of usc but keep posting like you do

it makes me laugh

usc has  a roster full of 5 star talent

they may be a down next year(9-2) but will be competing for national championship the following 3 years

sc isnt miami and erickosn and to say such a thing indicates joe doesnt know the game

Smazza your an idiot.

First I do know what went on at USC, I just told you. Robinson was old and out of touch and Hackett couldn't recruit, there is are REASON why he didn't stay in college football and put his skills towards the NFL.

The Miami/USC situation side by side are almost IDENTICAL

Arrests - Miami had 3/USC 2

Illegal Money - USC 2 (Bush and Jarret)/Miami 3-10 (Pell Grant scandal in which 3-10 players received extra money, number still unknown)

The Lifestyle Both live in major US and have been frequently cited for getting into things they shouldn't have.

Want more proof? ESPN is doing a story on it later this week at 6pm, comparing the two programs. It is SCAREY how identitcal the situation is.

“This is not a broken football program by any means. It just needs to be united, to get everybody on the same page, share that same vision, and really to have that standard - best is the standard.”

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
