We should take game three tomorrow.  I believe Ellis is back on the mound.

Liwag’s Two Home Runs Propel Bulls to 11-3 Win Over ECU

Boxscore

GREENVILLE, N.C. (April 10, 2004)-Carmela Liwag led the way for the Bulls as the USF softball team defeated East Carolina 11-3, Saturday afternoon at the ECU Softball Field. Liwag finished going 3-for-5 with a double, two home runs, one from each side of the plate and six RBI.

Liwag knocked in the first run of the game with a double to left center in the top of the first that scored Samantha Ray from second.

The Bulls (44-8, C-USA 12-3) pushed across another three runs in the second inning courtesy of Liwag’s first home run of the game. LePage and Ray scored on the home run; LePage walked and Ray singled to the second baseman. The runners moved up on a Shelly Riker ground out.

Christie Chapman led off the third with a walk and scored on a Tiffany Stewart double to right center. Sarah Watson connected on her first home run of the season down the left field line, to increase the Bulls lead to 7-1.

ECU added a run in the second and two more runs in the sixth to cut into the Bulls lead.

Liwag put the game away in the top of the seventh with her second home run of the game and fourth of the year over the left center fence.

Leigh Ann Ellis picked up her 30th win of the year to improve her record to 30-4.

The Bulls will return to the USF Softball Complex for a three-game series against UAB. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 17.
