So he is a bust because he sprained his knee? He will be an all-star catcher in MLB for many many years.  He was a stud QB that FSU had in their pocket but the hometown team twins drafted him first overall and he was not about to bo jackson his career.

Mauer never ended up going to FSU. Piazza is one of the worst defensive catchers in game. Mauer has a cannon attached to his shoulder.

Mauer was a great minor league player last year and isnt even 21 yet, piazza was 25 when he made bigs so lets see how mauer is doing in 4 more years.  Bench hit 42 homers in his first three seasons. You are also comparing him to the best two catchers in history of baseball. In three minor league seasons Mauer is hitting .330 with little power.  I say he turns out to be a stud but it takes a while for catchers but this kid will be improving rapidly.

I never said he went to FSU, I said they had him in their pocket as he signed with them but then ended up playing baseball and never made it to campus.

i wish giants had piazza from day one.however,piazza was humble when he first came to dodgers has turned into an arrogant sob. i say this from first hand knowlegde.

fair enough. I am a big fan of all the paisans in sports and Piazza is one of the better. When he is on howard stern he seems like a great guy.  I am not sure when Mauer gets off DL and I agree that many cant miss prospects miss badly but then some turn out like chipper jones or josh beckett or mark prior or arod etc..
