UCF Player Accused Of Sex Crime On Campus

ORLANDO, Fla. -- A starting player for the University of Central Florida football team is accused of a sex crime on campus, Local 6 News has learned.

UCF campus police arrested Ron Ellis, 20, after a woman said he forced himself on her in a dormitory room earlier this month.

Police said the incident happened after a group of students were drinking in a dorm room.

"The incident occurred on Nov. 1 in the morning hours just after Halloween," UCF police Sgt. Troy Williamson said. "There was alcohol drinking games going on. There was a lot of alcohol going on."

A police report said the alleged victim went to her room during the party and Ron Ellis followed her.

The woman told police Ellis began rubbing her thigh and she told him to stop, Local 6 reporter Vanessa Medina said.

Ellis did stop but later returned, according to the police report.

"The victim said she had been sexually battered," Williamson said. "People got in the wrong mode and should have left and didn't and ended up in trouble."

Ellis has been suspended for the UCF football team.

The case has been handed over to the state attorney's office.

Ellis is in his third year as a Golden Knight football player.
