Here is the current television coverage that I've been able to find for the Florida schools.  Sources used: ESPN.com, CSTV.com, ionline.com, FSN, CFN.  For those who don't know, i is short for Independent Television(used to be known as PAX) and is nationally broadcasting CUSA games.  CSTV All-Access is similar to ESPN Gameplan in that it is nation wide and is available on the web as well as on Dish Network.

Originally, I did not think much of the CSTV deal.  However, CSTV is growing so fast, I'm starting to think it was a good deal.  From the looks of it, CUSA has become CSTV's golden child and they must think the conference has a bright future.  Not only do they get coverage on the main station and All-Access(like ESPN Gameplan, but only available on Dish Network and the web for now), they get coverage on CSTV Nation, which i broadcasts.  i is broadcasting 6 or 7 CUSA games this year including 3 for Houston(most in the league) and 1 for UCF(ironically vs Houston).  CUSA made a great agreement getting coverage on both ESPN and CSTV.  They both play games live and CSTV have the rights to rerun the games as well as in other sports.  Both UCF's men and women basketball teams will have a game on CSTV making it the first time either was on national television in the regular season.  The Mountain West, starting next year, will be on CSTV only.  I do not think their deal is as lucrative as CUSA's.

CSTV has been around less than 2 years, but in the last 6 months, has exploded on network coverage.  It's available on digital cable in many areas.  In Orlando(cause I live here), it's a recent addition to the $1.99 sports pack which includes NBATV, Fuel and the Tennis Channel.  As far as I know, ESPN2 has become a mainstay on just about every standard cable provider.

I think the Big East made a mistake by not making ties with the up and coming network.  ESPN is bogged down by other conferences as well as other sports and ESPNU is sparcely viewable.

The SEC deal with CBS gives them 1 game a week.  They get first choice and then ESPN has the rest to choose from.  For the SEC, it guarantees exclusive coverage because they also have a deal with Jefferson Pilot sports, which I believe also now does Big XII games.

The Big East had a lot of trouble with the TV deals cause:

1.  They don't have many teams

2.  Their major market is in the Northeast and very segregated.

3.  Their image has been severely tarnished by the ACC raid.

4.  Their BCS status was still in question during negotiations.

However, I believe if they do expand, they are allowed to immediately renegotiate their contract.  They might expand just to do that seeing how successful CUSA has been TV wise.
