Women’s Soccer Picked to Finish Seventh in BIG EAST Preseason Poll

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (August 5, 2005) – The league office announced today the preseason rankings for women’s soccer, in which the Bulls have been selected to finish seventh in Division A in the BIG EAST as voted on by the league’s head coaches.

USF, who is entering its inaugural season in the BIG EAST, received 39 points overall in the poll, placing seventh overall in the poll. Last season the Bulls posted a record of 5-9-2, 4-6 C-USA and finished 11th in the conference. In addition, USF, along with two other new members to the league, did not place a player on the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team.

With the recent addition of USF, DePaul, Marquette, Louisville and Cincinnati, the BIG EAST becomes the largest women’s soccer conferences in the nation with its 16 members. Because of this, the league split the women’s soccer teams into two divisions (Division A and Division B. Each will play seven opponents from within its division as well as four opponents from the other division.

The Bulls kick off their season on Aug. 26 at 7 p.m. at Florida International in Miami.
