Smazz, its not tough to get excited about a top 10 recruit!

I do understand smazza's indifference, though. It's a long time until he can sign on the dotted line .......... Who knows, Billy D may have another one of those European trips lined up between now and then.   ::)

Curry had a very good weekend at the Big Bend Shootout according to the Breakdown message board. His current team, Breakdown, came in 3rd place:

In 2004 Curry was on Team Florida along with Cann and Brumbaugh:

TEAM FLORIDA

Walter Hodge; Calvin Liptrot; Raymod Sykes; Princeton Curry; Jarvis Williams; DeLuis Ramirez; Keaton Grant; Keith Brumbaugh; Jeremiah River; Garrett Cox; Zaronn Cann.

Hopefully, Curry's verbal will help us to get some more of his BB teammates.

Jarvis Williams- Alcorn State- 2005

Brumbaugh- NBA, UF, OKS- 2005

Keaton Grant- Missou- 2005

Walter Hodge- UF-2005

Zaronn Cann- USF- 2005

Raymond Sykes- Clemson- 2005

Jeremiah Rivers- Georgetown- pre-season #1 FL player- 2006

Calvin Liptrot- pre-season top 10 FL player-2006

Basically that 2004 team only had three under-classmen- Rivers' the #1 player in FL, Liptrot, and Curry.  The upperclassmen like Grant, Hodges, Cann, Sykes, and Brumbaugh are all making major splashes at major universities.  That's some big company, and this obviously takes the sting out of losing Aaron Holmes.  In fact, they've got Holmes as a four star, but I would guess if Curry isn't a four star he's not too far behind.

A nice snag, a big guard with all the tools.

I've always hated the phrase "He's not a shooter, he's a scorer.''

Uhh, check the names Derwin Kitchen, David Huertas, and Walter Hodges who all signed with UF and will be on campus this fall.  All three are shooting/combo guards.   Not to mention UF already leads for three of the top 5 shooting guards in the nation.

At this point we need to just hope UF doesn't wiff with all of them and then comes back around to Curry for a last minute theft.  That's been Donovan's forte, the last minute theft of recruits from other programs.

In 2004 there were only 14 Florida players who were invited to attend the Nike All American camp and just about everyone of them will be going to high major Hoop schools:

Jason Bennett Arlington Country Day School Jacksonville FL

Keith Brumbaugh Deland HS Deland FL

Denis Clemente Calusa Prep Miami FL

Princeton Curry Poinciana HS Kissimmee FL

Keaton  Grant Gateway HS Kissimmee FL

Walter Hodge Florida Air Academy Melbourne FL

David  Huertas Arlington Country Day Jacksonville FL

Jonathan  Kreft Marjory Stoneman Douglas Coral Springs FL

Luc Richard Mbah A Moute Montverde Academy Montverde FL

Jeremiah  Rivers Winter Park HS Winter Park FL

Rashaad Singleton Graceville HS Campbellton FL

Josue  Soto Arlington Country Day Miami FL

Raymond Sykes Andrew Jackson HS Jacksonville FL

Arminas Urbutis Montverde Academy Montverde FL

Curry played for a terrible team and didn't get as much attention as other players on that list.

I'm sure he opened up a lot of eyes when he went up against Keaton Grant and scored 42 points against him this year in a huge upset:

Dante Curry Jr. G,  Poinciana. The electric player scored a school-record 42 points in an upset of Gateway in February.

And we'll hold you to it.  Someone put this in the hall-of-fame section.  Anytime we can get smazza promise that he will have positive excitement for USF athletics we need to memorialize.

In fairness to smazza, he's been very positive about CRM all along ...
