Well, there are a number of past articles here on Bailey and I don't plan on searching for all of them. If I remember correctly, I believe he STARTED out with poor grades and has been pulling them up over the last couple of years. Some kids [like me] are late bloomers. If you are interested you can search: Hashim

again all i said is dad knows best and if he thinks he is not ready for college yet maybe he isn't.

also....i bet he did START out with poor grades....most usually don't go from a 3.0 to under a 2.0 and need to attend night school to try and achieve a 2.1

how has he even been allowed to play basketball....i would think you would need to maintain at least a 2.0 to remain eligible?

if it were my kid and his grades were that piss poor last thing he would be doing is participating in athletics.

Upon searching here the one article I did find said his GPA was pretty good and that he just needed to pull up his SAT a bit. Some other articles I can't read because the links are no longer available.

...bailey mulling options

Passaic Tech senior center Hashim bailey is close to making a verbal commitment to the University of South Florida, but won't say anything until "his father talks to a few other sources to see what is going on," according to Bulldogs coach Ron Austin.

bailey, a 6-foot-10 first-team All-North Jersey and All-Passaic County standout, also has been in contact with assistant coaches from St. John's, Memphis and Clemson. However, he is only a partial qualifier now. He has a strong enough GPA, but needs to pull up his SAT slightly when he takes the test Saturday.

"We're listing South Florida pretty high," said Austin, who also talked about prep school as an option. "They would like for him to make a verbal commitment at the most. That's nothing etched in stone. He has gotten all kinds of letters from majors to mid-majors. They keep coming in every week."

bailey, who averaged 18 points, a County-best 14.9 rebounds and 4.5 blocks, is also in the running for the McDonald's All-American Game. The participants will be selected in February.

"I have to get my grades up to a 2.1 (GPA)," Bailey said on Wednesday. "I'm taking two night classes. Then I could go to prep in the summer and be in college by August."

i don't care cdoa talent will not get us where we need to be in the BE

hold out for someone better

be reasonable

we do need warm bodies

and even a cusa player who can give you solid mins and some rebounding will be of help.

also until you start to WIN consistantly you will not be getting the allamericans of the world so we will always be looking for diamonds in the rough, troubled "stars" that have turned around or system players that our system will make better

that is where we are...like it or not!

coach mac is doing a great job

this year recruiting has to be solid not spectacular

he then has to coach his butt off. with some success and luck we will have a lot more to sell the second tier BE players and maybe a top tier player will take a chance next year and in the years to come

BTW, the Center USM just signed was considered the best for his age in Lithuania, and was ranked among the 10 best prep prospects in Virginia and that's why I thought he might be good for us and that he would have felt comfortable with Prek on the team. That in turn might have landed us some other quality EUROPEAN players in the future.

he was an ecu verbal because he is considered a head case....not because of his on the court talent.

So, how does the fact that he's a head case change now just because he is committed to USF?

???

Before this news broke, he was Big-East caliber according to people on here.

Now that he's leaving, he's just a warm body.

::)
