JIM LEAVITT / USF Head Football Coach:

"You know I'm having as much fun as I probably have had in the spring for a while, to be honest with you."

It didn't take much for Jim Leavitt to feel the energy of USF Spring Ball. Only his players are more excited about the Big East Debut.

ANDRE HALL / USF Running Back

"You don't understand, it's like, now with the Big East, everybody's pushing alot harder. It's looking good all around the table."

There's also a full scale quarterback competition. Junior Pat Julmiste is getting a run from sophomore Anthony Severino and transfer Courtney Denson. The Bulls youth movement that began last season continues into the new conference.

LEAVITT:

"It'll be one of the most challenging schedules we've ever had, but we're real excited about it."

Another boost fot the Bulls this spring- the decision of running back Andre Hall to stick around for his senior year instead of taking off early for the NFL.

HALL:

"I signed for two years so I'm gonna give 'em two years. I'm a man of my word. NFL is not going anywhere. I'll get my degree."

LEAVITT:

"I haven't noticed the guys looking forward to it being over. More like, 'how much better can they be each day' and that's what's made it so much fun for me. Y'know, they've competed through the whole practice and tried to maximize each day. That's whats nice."

if our freshman can't come in and replace  most of last years starters,usf will be in for a long year

it sounds like leavitt should have quit 2 years ago when he stopped coaching.

as soon as he  got big contract spring wasn't fun for him!!!

nice find Howie.  Did anyone notice the duck that Denson threw, it was ugly.

Yeah but it looked to be about 40 yards and it was on the mark.  The throwing motion looked good as well.

Severino had that nice scramble throw- looked good.

How about the few moves that Denson put on before he got sacked- nice footwork.

Did you see how big Ponton's arms were sitting next to Hall.

I remember the days of seeing practices when Leavitt, Frey and crew generally towered over their players.  Boy, you know we're serious 1-A when players are making Leavitt and Frey look small.
