Also, after the top 40-50 players basketball recruiting can be an even bigger crap shoot then football.

If you land a 6-8 200lb forward he might not be different physically then say a 6-8 200lbs guy ranked #50.  However, basketball is a game where one can easily hone their individual skills, and athleticism on an individual basis.  Maybe in 3 years that unranked 6-8 PF worked his ass off and becomes as good as the ranked guy, maybe he lacks some of the hops but he made up for it by developing a solid hook shot, and added beef to enhance his rebounding effort, or maybe became an adept three point shooter.  Basketball is tricky because it's easy to develop skills and be competitive if you've got a few skills.
