  1. I bought the 9 book set to that series... Still haven't read it. I keep getting distracted by other series.
  2. That last point is a very fair one. I'm really excited to see what sort of defensive improvements we get.
  3. This is sort of a slippery slope. I mean Charlie Strong had Top 10 recruiting classes during his first two years there. We don't get recruits like that here. So they clearly have the talent there. I would agree with you on the play calling thing. That's the only thing that concerns me, if we get a power offense forced on us. I agree that it's unlikely to happen. However, I'm just stating that I would prefer to keep our offensive staff, don't fix what isn't broken IMO. Oh, and the Big 12 doesn't play defense, so yeah I do think we'd still have gaudy offensive numbers!
  4. There's been a lot of complaints about Sterlin Gilbert's play calling specifically. I shouldn't have made my statement so generic. I would rather keep T.J. Weist and/or David Reaves over Sterlin Gilbert. Then again, those guys haven't had a chance to play call here at USF. So I will go ahead and shut up and reserve judgement. I'm still very happy about the Charlie Strong hire!!
  5. Uh oh if true... Don't be stubborn, man. Keep the offensive coaches we already have in place. I don't want Texas's offensive coaches...
  6. I never disputed that fact. I said show me someone besides Willie that called plays on the offensive side.. You do realize Willie was making the play calls during the game right? That's what play calling is.
  7. No way, I did not enjoy that offense. I don't think anyone can genuinely said they did. I'm giving him credit to listening to wisdom and changing his philosophy and adapting it. I was calling you out for saying he got serious help on play calling. As far as I'm aware he is the only coach to call plays on the offensive side, but correct me if I'm wrong. I don't get why you were trying to label his time here as a failure, when it was clearly a success. Yep, there were some low moments, sure. But he got hired by Oregon as a result of his success!! I'm starting to get excited to see what coach we can get next. Btw, Lane is not coming here.
  8. They must have confused us with WKU... WKU was winless before his first season there. Those jerks.
  9. During CWT tenure.... we went 2-10, 4-8, 8-5, then 10-2. That's enough for me. Also his Oregon contract is for 5 years, not 3. However, if you want to make that up as fact too, go right ahead. Just don't present it as fact and expect to be taken seriously.
  10. Same. I wish Taggart well.. I'm actually excited to see who we get next. They have a stacked team they are coming into. I legitimately laughed when I read an article that was throwing Schiano's name out there! No chance he's coming here (I hope).
  11. Guess that means we won't be losing to Temple next year! On a more serious note.. it sucks for Temple. But it seems like a really weird hire for Baylor, and for Rhule. I figured he would hold out for a better job. Baylor is gonna be a rebuild for him.
  12. Houston still dropped 7 spots though, they did not lose much if I remember correctly, and they beat FSU at the end of the season. Don't get me wrong.. I will hold out hope, but I'm expecting the worst with the pollsters. Granted.. we still need to win our Bowl game of course!
  13. I hate to break it to you guys, but both Navy and WKU finished the season ranked last year and dropped out of the preseason rankings. You guys know they like to rank the usual suspects first, no matter how they ended the previous year (i.e., ND). so even if we finish ranked, don't get your hopes too high on us being ranked next year. Navy dropped from #18 to #38. WKU dropped from #24 to #40. Oh and Houston dropped from #8 to #15. We're in the "G5", we will get dropped.
  14. Why bring up Houston? We played the three teams that beat Houston and beat them. We went 7-1 in our conference! We didn't win the east with 7 wins and 1 freaking loss!! That's bad luck.
  15. Very interesting stats, thanks for taking the time to compile them.
  16. Stop looking at it through misery. The defense got THREE turnovers, where they haven't done so before. That is objectively an improvement, regardless of how many yards they gave up. Nowhere did I state that the defense played great, nor even to an acceptable level. Instead some people love to just hate, instead of looking at things objectively. If you can't see that there was an improvement, then you are looking at it with differently colored glasses, not me.
  17. So I'm not gonna lie, that early bye week scares me. Hopefully our depth doesn't diminish and we can do a lot of rotating towards the end of the season.
  18. To be fair, defense looked better last game and actually did show inprovement. Let's see how they do vs UCF.
