CAG won't be poached this year but assuming another big step up next year with a 3rd year RS Junior QB is going to make him a very attractive target for a ton of schools because they probably assume they can land both CAG and BB17. As far as beating Bama, we shall see. As was stated, DeBoer is unusual-he has won everywhere he's gone and is an exceptionally successful HC. Most HC get the job after one big stint at a smaller school, or massive achievement (real or not) as a top-level assistant. CAG was an assistant who killed it wherever he went. DeBoer is an HC who has killed it wherever he went. I do think we have a legitimate shot to beat them if they continue to bleed talent, but they were still trying to figure everything out when they came to Tampa last year and still had a great defense. They will reload their defense this year. You need to hope our WR corps and OL takes another big step up this year to have a shot. Fortunately, Deboer and staff haven't faced a CTO defense which works in our favor-it's always a pain to deal with the first time you see it.

I think it won't matter until we're putting 35k in the stands every game, but I do believe we can get 35k in the stands. We did it for homecoming in 2017 and 2018. We're probably getting 20k actuals at Rayjay right now. Keep ascending up the winner's ranks and the number probably goes to 30k by end of next year. If we end up hosting a conference championship I could see 40k getting into Ray Jay for that. To get to 35k a week consistently you'd have to likely win the conference 2 years in a row and have a solid shot at making the playoff in 2026. The bizarre thing would be if we somehow go undefeated in 2025 with CAG and BB as a redshirt junior, win a playoff game or two, and then suddenly we're raking in attendance in our last year at Ray Jay. It would be super awkward to go from getting 50k at Ray Jay to 35k at the OCS, but at least then the pitch to boost the capacity to 40k would be there. I wouldn't want to grow it more than that unless we move up to a P2 conference. I have to agree with those saying that ND and the like will not play on campus unless the OCS seats 50k minimum. With that said, they are the only true blueblood visiting after this year. Louisville, NC State, UConn, and Southern Miss have zero reason to complain about coming to the OCS.

Mike Norvell has earned the Bama job with his work at FSU. He makes lots of sense given his strength in the region. Of course the GA loss was a really bad look, but can't beat UGA's starting 22 with third-stringers. It would have made more sense for them to simply not play the game to leave people wondering. They were probably threatened with damages or similar if FSU refused to play. Dan Lanning also makes tons of sense, but you wonder if he wants to leave Oregon. They are one of the few schools that could match whatever Bama wishes to pay. Mario Cristobal has done poorly at Miami after leaving Oregon (and I frankly thought he was a good hire on their part). Lane at Bama would be interesting. Based on his past history I'm sure he's got the ability to handle the pressure, but will he win the big games like Saban did? he didn't at USC and Ole Miss while prominent certainly isn't Bama.

It's no guarantee... but a USF that makes the playoffs twice in a row with a large student population and 600-700k in weekly viewership would have an outside shot at the B1G as a package deal with Miami. FSU has likely pissed off Stanford and Cal, both AAU members with their description of said schools in the lawsuit. The B1G schools who are in the AAU saw that and they will be listening to a certain extent to those schools when it comes to AAU admission. B1G admission is separate of course, but academia can be a vicious space, and college presidents are unlikely to forget. The athletics appeal may be just too much for them to ignore, but the B1G would have to break its own standard regarding the AAU requirement because I simply don't see how they get admitted into the AAU.

There's something else that's being ignored. UCF's bounce house was built 16 years ago. FAU's stadium was built 13 years ago. Costs were substantially lower than. Times change, and costs go up with time. If this stadium had been built in say, 2015 or 2016 I think $150-200 million is absolutely a realistic number. We're in 2023 now, not 2015 or 2016. Cost of labor has gone up. Cost of materials has gone up. Had USF moved forward with Bartow Malone to do the build, it likely would have cost more than the $340M currently budgeted for the project. Instead they're going with a construction manager at risk model to lower the costs and stay within budget, which is something everyone should be happy about. For the record, the stadium will cost $315 million. The $25 million coming from TGH funds the performance facility. We're actually doing just fine. We've raised $43 million privately, $7 million more to go. We've gotten $5 million more out of the broadband sales than we were expecting, that's another $30 million. CITF is pitching in another $31 million. Finally there's another $34 million coming from previous broadband and other sources. So we're at $138M already with $7 million in fundraising left to do. We could always get more. I wonder if there's any other sources for another big gift of $10-25 million.

The stadium is huge for client retention and sales growth. You have 12-13k students who are graduating every year. With bad football we are getting 20k in the stands. With good football you are getting 35k without much difficulty and donations will rise. You also get all the alumni who are coming back to campus. Better than sending them to Raymond James where we have 30-40k empty red chairs every game. Not everyone who's an STM is on this board. I'm sure @Brad would have noticed if that is the case. Some people just treat USF football as a fun thing to do on a Saturday but will keep buying tickets because it's the alma mater.

$150 million isn't getting you much these days. I visited UH's stadium in 22 for the USF game (it was built for $128 million). I always thought it was a gorgeous stadium before I visited it, now I've seen it and I came away rather disappointed but hey, it does have chic-fil-a! The $340 million includes the football-only facility by the way, and we're not paying for that either-TGH wrote a $25 million check for the facility in return for some revenue-generating opportunities for them. So in reality the stadium on its own will cost around $315 million. We've raised $43 million of the $50 million projected in private donations, and if they put in the work I suspect they could get to $75-100 million. We also have $30 million coming in for broadband rights and another $34 million from previous broadband sales and other sources. Finally, we have $31 million coming in from the Capital Improvement Trust Fund So as of today, we've raised $138 million of the funding target of $315M, or $163M of $340 million if you want to include the football facility from sources that do not have to be repaid (I'm assuming the $43 million in private donations does not include the TGH gift). Assuming we only get the $7 million left in the fundraising target, we're only looking at an annual debt service of $14M a year compared with $17M under the original plan. We're actually doing much better than expected on the fundraising front than originally expected as we've $30 million under original planned debt funding, or $5 million under if the TGH gift is included in the private donations. They'd better. Biff's QBs have thrown for 12 INTs and just 6 TDs. Biff's RBs ran for a third of their season output against the Memphis Tigers but looked anemic the rest of the year. Biff's defense is top 50 in some categories but will be in trouble if we get short fields and ABB repeatedly intercepts their starter. This game is very winnable.

My apologies. Got the opponent wrong off memory. I am fine with playing UCF in Tampa. I'm sure our team will be up to play the War on I-4 and we do have a month to prepare if we get there, although I wonder right now if we stack up given their play recently. You do have everything to gain, so the motivation is definitely there. Playing in Hawaii would be a dream trip but not at the expense of UCF getting to come into Tampa and play another team on our turf. I've said it before-I only want to go to Orlando if UCF doesn't make a bowl as the narrative of 10-15000 fans in green and gold with Bulls apparel and paraphernalia walking over UCF's campus would be both hilarious and aggravating to their ego. I also have something else going on that day I can't get out of, so it wouldn't be a first choice.

I didn't say I wanted to stay in a conference with Rice. I said I like them better than the rest of the CUSA additions. The games vs. Memphis and Navy, despite the result vs Memphis, were more enjoyable. Watching us repeatedly sack Alabama's QBs was enjoyable. Getting to hang out with my brother and dad as we face Miami next season is going to be tons of fun and something I intend to enjoy.

They used to do that before we outgrew the capacity in 2007. My first home game as a student was 2007 vs. Elon. After we beat Auburn we had to stand in line at the Sun Dome to get tickets for WVU. Fun times. I would say keep it where it is. They've done well in parts throughout the season. You can't exactly blame them after we pooped the bed vs. FAU. Hopefully, there's a solid turnout vs Charlotte, and once we get to a bowl game I expect demand will pick up substantially.

Because UConn just scored tons of points against us? Being a bad offense is more than just not having good players. It's repeatedly shooting yourself in the foot with penalties and turnovers. Charlotte doesn't have a Lajohntay wester who can break open a game for them and they've fumbled the ball 11 times this year, while they average 7 penalties per game. You keep getting them behind schedule like we tend to do and it won't be an issue. Competent offenses have scored on them this year. Regardless we need to go beat Temple this week before we do anything else.

I don't love the Frisco Bowl either but my sister lives in McKinney near Plano so I'd get to see her, same with Fenway Bowl and my brother (assuming they're in town). At least the Fenway bowl is against a P5 opponent. McMurphy was projecting Gasparilla Bowl vs Auburn which would be a #1 option for us, as would the Athletic's Gasparilla vs Maryland (last week's projection).
