  1. I would argue that we are better than this. UCF needed a referee's call to beat us at their house last year while we were starting a freshman QB. Not only is everyone a year better on our team-but we now have a QB who has actually won a conference championship. Tulsa, Houston, and even Cincinnati were competitive into the second half and we had injury issues at QB against ECU. Assuming Bohannon is the starter all the way through the year, can anyone make a substantive case that all of those games are losses? 3 of those 5 games were tossups. As far as our road games, BYU seems like the best opportunity for an OOC win against an FBS opponent given their problems winning in humid Florida (I don't think they've won a game in Florida in a few decades). Florida hasn't been amazing in several years but 90k fans at the swamp is going to be hard to play against no matter our improvement. We outscored them in the 2nd half last year and then they lost by 2 to Alabama at home. UL did go bowling last year but the ACC was down-if the team comes ready to play we may surprise them-and while we haven't seen it in a decade, we used to have a rivalry with UL. I wonder if that can be revived. Want to go bowling? I think 2-2 out of conference isn't impossible, and frankly I like our chances against UCF, Tulsa, ECU, and Temple. We frankly need to beat Tulane. I would be overjoyed if we beat Houston or Cincy.
  2. I am puzzled at you all obsessing over these crates. To me, they are the silliest thing ever. I look forward to the new video every year.
  3. Thank you for liking so many of my posts.

  4. 1. Yes. Going to Dallas next week, Atlantic City in July, and possibly to Austin as well. 2. I don't have one in particular. Growing up we spent a lot of time in Pakistan visiting family in the summers, and nighttime power outages were actually more exciting than worrisome (prior to us getting digitized). 3. I worked at a small grocery store as my first job. The man was very informal at work, but we worked hard when we needed to and had fun the rest of the time. He was somewhat lenient on hours and the late evenings turned into hang out sessions after customers were kind of done. Trying to find groceries for patients was exciting. 4. Running back. We have historically done well at this position, and we have a great mix of power, speed, and explosiveness with Mangham, Battie, and Joiner. If I can identify an entire portion of the team, it would also be Special Teams. We did well with that last year and Da Prato is very high energy.
  5. You can make that argument for football and men's basketball, and on a more limited basis, women's basketball. But let's be real. Is Tennis, golf, or softball about to land those kinds of financial deals? I don't think so.
  6. Oh look. Game isn't at 0:00...but it almost may well be.
  7. An unfortunate reality of our situation. At least if we won 8 games we have some recruiting momentum.
  8. The firing of CJL didn't help matters- I have to believe that CJL would have kept USF sufficiently winning to avoid getting downgraded. We had 6 losses in 2011 by a score or less and I'm sure that 2010 would have been a quality year as well-CSH's insistence in making BJ Daniels a pocket passer caused clear problems for the offense, and we would have had better depth given who was committed when CJL was fired. Attendance would likely have stayed over 40k and we had a good enough rivalry with WVU to potentially parlay that into getting pulled into the Big 12 with them.
  9. A 6'8 kick blocker with his vertical is a ST weapon. You could use software to figure out kick angles on each kicker we face and just line him up to block kicks. He's apparently blocked four kicks in camp already. If this becomes a regular occurrence in the regular season it will basically force every team to go for it in the red zone because of the threat of coming away with nothing. Even if they get a TD you could potentially eliminate extra points.
  10. Could you talk your nephew into taking the job? How's his record?
  11. If we somehow make it out of the first weekend, we will have the easiest path to the final four. But we've never done that and I'm sure both Miami and USC will do their homework and press us the entire way through. Sydni Harvey HAS to play like she did early in the year for us to have a chance.
  12. Isn't there some kind of rule that they have to have a separate store for alcohol in Florida?
  13. I noticed that Yale's Dean of Public Health wasn't considered a finalist. I don't know if that would have been the hire, but that should put paid to the notion that no one of significance wants the job. It might be best to keep that line open in case he's interested in the Provost role. I can't imagine Wilcox is going to be here much longer. As far as Rhea Law, I haven't been on campus much recently, but her conducting the band at a football game last year was really impactful to me. It shows that she cares a lot about the University and that the school is a giant passion project for her. It helps that she saw pretty much all of what Judy Genshaft did over her time here and has the strong connections in Tampa and across Florida to really own this position. I also love that we can sell the "coming home" story. Get her a BayMade jersey, she's the OG of all that. Talley has amazing experience and he would likely be an impressive leader for us, but let's be real. He is also 62 and also wouldn't be here a long time. If he was 52 he would be a much better hire. I love that given USF's history with veterans, making a a hire with such impressive military leadership experience would be a strong tribute to that and we would probably become the destination school for veterans across the university.
  14. Who would that actually be? We've got very few people with either a C-Suite position or an executive leadership position of some kind.
  15. I like how they actually set in a draft position for long snapper.
  16. Khator is not happening. If I had to make the pick 15 years ago between her and Judy, I would have picked Khator. What she has done at Houston athletics wise is tremendous. Academically Judy has been better, but It's not completely clear where UH started from in 2007. She's also old enough that she probably wouldn't consider starting over.
  17. Vanessa Quinones off the public list was not a terrible option. She should probably get a Presidency role somewhere. Maybe not USF, but there's definitely a place for someone like her somewhere. Provost of #217 university in the country should find her a regional presidency role somewhere. Or a Provost at a bigger school. Smart of her to get herself on a search committee's radar. I would like to see Shaheen Abdullah's 39 page proposal. An assistant professor isn't someone I'd hire at the Presidential level but as a CPA I'm always curious to see how they would manage the university from an accounting and finance perspective.
  18. As far as new presidents, I maintain that it needs to be, as others have said, someone entrepreneurial, who wants to sell every aspect of the University to the city of Tampa first and to our region, including St. Pete and Sarasota. The academic side HAS been getting better, but we do need an athletics first president. Frankly that should have been the hire in 2019 and I'm confused as to how it was not. Genshaft probably has a more mixed legacy than people think, but the critical stuff academically, she owned. The university got much better at graduating students on time under her watch. The university got much better at research under her watch. She did well in empowering the biosciences areas of the university to start getting moving. But she hamstrung athletics to a large extent and seemed to almost hate it if it didn't get her any kind of credit. Fundraising for the non-sciences areas didn't seem as strong as it could have been (could be wrong).
  19. Currall had a business background to an extent. Even when he returns (assuming he returns) he will return to a professor's seat in the COB. However, it's clear that it was just a degree on the wall. An intelligent president would never have axed the entire undergraduate education degree when we are one of the largest producers of teachers in the State of Florida.
  20. Effort is great...but CBG cannot coach offense. He goes into a shell and panic mode. You cannot win without scoring more points than the other team. We've got some real defensive capabilities, but 2021-22 USF men's basketball is like the 2014 USF football team without the benefit of having playmakers like Marlon Mack and Jamie Byrd. He needs to hand the offensive play calling off to Rowe or similar if he wants to have any chance of saving his job.
  21. I am legitimately stunned we are in this game. Should have jumped on the tickets some people were offering up LOL.
  22. Blake Barnett would have been fine if he hadn't got sacked so much. The beating took a toll on him. Timmy has potential, but with a decent OL BB would have been a fine transition from QF.
