  1. I am going to bed tonight and say a little prayer that some earth shattering announcement will be made tomorrow that will rock the college football world. Doubt it will happen, but I can dream... Like the Big East is merging with the ACC or they struck a TV deal for a vast sum or lol, Notre Dame is joining in football or they hired Colin Powell, no, Norman Schwarzkopf, as the commish, LOL. The General played half back.
  2. perfect example of why program should be shut down they are out of control and too many people in power are in denial Its a public school governed by bylaws. If the president is doing things outside his charter, the board probably has a point. The whole thing wasn't done right, but it was done fast to appease a national outcry.
  3. they are not the old or new nike nike is in a class by themselves hopefully there will be more usf products for sale Maybe in your mind but in the real world, not really. Not like they used to be. UA is definitely the new hotness and Nike knows it. UA and their innovative designs is why Nike is putting out their Nike Pro Combat uniforms. In 15 years going from a garage to billion dollar plus company outfitting dozens of division 1 universities is because of their innovation and style. Reebok and Starter and Champion and Adidas and Puma had their day when they were the hottest in sports apparel. Nike's beyond their peak, UA is going up. So much so that last year the rumor was that Nike was going to buy them.
  4. Yeah, the PSU penalties were not in the scope of the NCAA's power but agreed to by their president. And it seems the board is ticked that he didn't go to them and get that approved. There may still be lawsuits flying in this mess, between PSU and the NCAA. Some former students have come forward disputing the report. What a mess.
  5. My daughter (and wife) getting a beach volleyball signed by Kerry Walsh in 2006.
  6. I'll keep that in mind Brad. It just seems to happen on this forum more than any other. And you post several photos and get that message, its a pain to figure which image caused it. First gold in Judo for Brazil. She had to hide it from her mom she was taking lessons because in her part of Brazil, the middle of nowhere, women don't do those kind of things. Sarah Menezes
  7. I've been watching Judo. I'd post more photos but apparently I am "not allowed to post with that extension". That extension being .jpg. Whatever.

  9. In regards to the 5-7 season if either UConn or ECU had fired Holtz when he had a 5 win season (1996 and 2005) with them, they wouldn't have had conference championships with him. Recruiting at USF is better than any other 15 year old program in the country, bar none.
  10. I have been looking forward to seeing him and Battles and Marc shine as Bulls for years. I remember the hype about those 3 signing with USF. Sorry to hear this and I hope he can get over his injuries.
  11. Everyone has an opinion. Mine is that looking at Holtz's two runs to Conference Championships at UConn and ECU, he had a 5 win season both times. So to me, he is on schedule for another championship within a couple of seasons if not this one.
  12. I saw Matt Hasselback Tweet his condolences an hour ago.
  13. Let's see if they are still committed on Wednesday. Or if they find out their scholarships have been taken by the NCAA.
  14. I was thinking it was smazza but the punctuation is too good.

  17. It probably has to do with how competitive NAVY is in the Big East and whether their recruiting improves as a result. Army wasn't very competitive in C-USA. This. And of the three academies, Army has had the most problems fielding a competitive team. Because Army has the most stringent rules on its Cadets. Airforce can go to inactive reserve to try out for NFL, Navy has something similar. Army is a strict two year policy and even then they give you hell for getting out, recruits don't want to deal with that. I think BYU is waiting to see if the NBE TV Deal would benefit them more than their current deal would, if so I think they jump. The difference isn't that much and the Naval Academy has the lower acceptance rate. Its like 8% and I think The Point is like 13%.
  18. The Scout article on Pierre when he was signed says he is a replacement for Scott at 4.4.speed, 205 lbs.
  19. usf has never really had a lot of talent the best in our area have always gone to other schools the lack of talent has been a problem at usf Check the NFL rosters with former Bulls players. Philly, Cleveland, Cowboys, Giants, etc.. They are on a different level at the NFL and don't employ players with a "lack of talent". AFL and other leagues have Bulls playing on their teams. CURRENT players. 20. USF has always had raw talent. What its continued to lack is discipline. These kids don't think sometimes or get too excited. But this year, the overall age of the team will hopefully mean that the team executes in a more consistent manner and turn overs are reduced along with penalties. I am quietly optimistic about both Phil Steele's and Athlon's prediction.
  21. Not a bit surprised. He had dropped USF off his top 5 on the 20th and UF was number one.
  22. I was digging around trying to find out what happened to the notion of having a real Rocky rumble down the sidelines like Ralphy at Colorado. http://www.tampabay.com/news/humaninterest/article968493.ece Mascot was too real to prowl the sidelines at USF football games Kevin Smetana, Times Staff Writer In Print: Sunday, January 18, 2009 Facebook 0 Email Share 0 [special to the Times] The Brahman bull was to charge out of the tunnel at USF football games. He’s now 1,200-pound Suva Wolfe at Auburn University. RIVERVIEW — He was supposed to be Rocky II, a hulking Brahman bull mascot prowling the sidelines during University of South Florida football games. But then he lost his mascot-in-waiting title, his name, and his cushy life at a local ranch. Rocky II is now Suva Wolfe, tipping the scales at 1,200 pounds and living on a hilltop pasture — at Auburn University. Suva, called the pick of the litter by a local rancher, was cut before ever hitting the field. Three other bulls picked to be USF mascots weren't so lucky. They'll likely end up on someone's dinner plate, if they haven't already. Riverview rancher Robert Newsome offered to donate a bull after USF alumnus John Massaro approached him several years ago. Massaro envisioned a live bull charging out of the tunnel on game days. "I think it would've built excitement for the school to have a real, live mascot on the field," said Massaro, an owner of several local Beef O' Brady's restaurants who pushed the idea for several years. Newsome and Massaro's plan was to take a 300-pound calf and get him used to being around people. When he reached 500 pounds, the bull would hit the field like Bevo, the University of Texas' Longhorn steer, or Ralphie, the American bison at the University of Colorado. In summer 2006, USF officials were close to approving the idea. Then the discussions between Massaro and USF's athletic department dragged out, and Rocky II and his three body doubles got too big. The talks ended before the 2007 football season — the same year that USF upset 17th-ranked Auburn on the road. "I had one bull picked out four times," Massaro said, noting that several local businesses had pledged thousands of dollars in products to maintain the bull. "That was the problem — we never were able to get the approval. I was always ready with a bull in line." USF assistant athletics director Chris Freet said only that "largely due to the liability issues related to having a live bull at Raymond James Stadium, USF athletics does not have any current or future plans for a live mascot at sporting events." Still, things could be worse for 2-year-old Suva Wolfe. Of the other three dethroned, would-be mascots, two were sold as commercial cattle and one was sold at market. Suva, whose first name is derived from his bloodline, would've made the best mascot of the four because of his calm temperament and superior quality, Newsome said. So rather than sell the bull to another rancher and not know his ultimate fate, Newsome shipped Suva to Auburn, where he serves as a beef cattle breeder at the JT Vaughn Large Animal Teaching Hospital. "I think he's quite happy," said Dwight Wolfe, a professor at the teaching hospital where veterinary students get hands-on training. Suva spends most his time in a pasture with a Brangus steer that was donated to the program after suffering a broken leg. Twice a year, for about 60 days at a time, Suva performs his breeding duties in an adjacent pasture. Wolfe, from whom Suva got his last name, said the bull "would make quite a showman" and would've loved it as USF's mascot. "He's structurally sound," Wolfe said. "To put it in athlete terms, his legs and his back are straight where they should be, and he has a proper amount of muscle everywhere he should have it." He's also got a lucky streak: Unlike his three counterparts and most breeder bulls, Suva likely won't see the slaughterhouse when his breeding days are over. "He's kind of special," Wolfe said. "We'll probably let him live his life out here."
  23. I like the new logo, but didn't really see an issue with the old one. Bring it back every now and then now that the new logo is secure in everyone's minds. Plus it would be nice for us older fans and something new for younger ones.
  24. I hope so. I Tweeted to that Miami reporter covers FSU, thanks for revving up all the USF fans and alumni, looking so forward to 9/29.
