  1. Very impressed with our team early in the season. Georgetown has some really good talent on their roster but USF has some good young talent as well and a **** good head coach leading them. The quest for .500 this season is very real and hopefully they use this lost against the Hoyas as a way to motivate them to turn it up a notch.
  2. I love women basketball, I really do but it's not a popular sport in the US. It never has been. I wish it would change someday as the ladies deserve more respect in hoops.
  3. Hate G'Town lost because it may serve as a wake-up call for them. Maybe Loyola is better than many thought. Still I wanted USF to be the ones to maybe slap the Hoyas back down to earth. Anyway they are young and talented in the back court and we can't expect (white Vince Carter) Matt McClung to post another stat line of 1 reb, 0 asst, and 0 pts again can we? Hoyas are talented in the front court as well so it will be a test for our bigs. The game should be competitive but I do think if the Bulls get off to a fast start offensively and smothers Georgetown backcourt defensively, we could see a somewhat repeat of the Ohio game today. The Hoyas are young and will start to panic if they get down by double digits. USF is better coached and if they play their game they can and will win over the Hoyas. In the end I have this game being tight and it can go either way. I expect a much better performance by G'Town Sunday but I'm also hoping USF stays focus on their goal of winning this tournament and imposes their will on the Hoyas, wearing them down and pulling away late to win. `
  4. That's something that needs to change and it will, hopefully sooner rather then later. Love the USF women but you gets no respect in the college sports world if the women basketballers have to carry the school flag. UNCONN is the only school that can get away with it but the men have had great success in the past as well.
  5. Gregory is all about fundamentals as much as or better then any Head Coach USF men's basketball has ever and will ever have. This team practices are very good and full or teaching and repetitions. The NCAA rules only allow a certain amount of time coaches can spend with players and Gregory maxes that out. This group of USF player are also very good of practicing on their own too. The missed free throws tonight was very unexpected and I don't think we see a lot of that happening much the rest of the season. I would be shocked if it does. The most encouraging thing coming from this game is that USF won the game while missing so many free throws against a very good mid major team in Austin Peay. Before the game I had USF winning by 2-3 points and that was if they played well in all facets of the game. Austin Peay is very well coached and has a lot of of experience. They also have a serious candidate for Ohio Valley Conference POY.in G/F Terry Taylor who has a pro basketball future. I promise you no USF team over the last 6 seasons would have won this game so I'm surprised and very please that this team, especially early in the season, could win a game like this.
  6. I'm ready too. I just really like Coach Gregory and what he and his staff are doing for a program that has been at rock bottom so long.
  7. Will be a good player in time. He's still recovering from a concussion. He will bring high energy, athleticism, rebounding, and ability to finish in the paint once he is able to go full speed ahead. Coach Gregory has some depth with this team and once Madut Akec gets healthy and able to to gain game experience he'll be able to help USF helping into conference play.
  8. Fine performance tonight except for the turnovers that will have to be cleaned up. Remember this team is basically a new team that hasn't played together in NCAA games much or if at all. They are still developing chemistry so I expect they will get better the more games they play this season. Once this team gels I expect them to be a good shooting team from the field and the FT line. I also think they will be good on the glass and in transition. The program is not yet ready to compete with the top teams in the AAC but I think they can be very competitive against the middle of the pack teams in the league. If I had to pick now I would say they finish around 10th place.
  9. I think this team can reach .500 status or close to it by season's end. I do think that they will take a little time to gel being they all haven't played together much or at all in some cases. I predict you will be very happy with what you'll see from Coach Gregory's 3rd season. We all will...
  10. It's a strong class when you combine it with the 2 former 4☆ recruits in CG Zack Dawson and PF Mayan Kir. Apparently all both guys needed was to come home to regain their abilities. Lots to be excited about with USF men's basketball.
  11. Coach Gregory is quietly building USF men basketball into a winner. Brick by Brick https://www.thesuvtv.com/news_article/show/959984#.W8dQhwkghD8.twitter One of the Peach State's best forwards headed to South Florida Meadowcreek's Jamir Chaplin committed to Head Coach Brian Gregory and the University of South Florida earlier this week. To classify this as a good get for USF would be an understatement given the production Chaplin has displayed up to this point, and his upside heading into his senior year at Meadowcreek and beyond. While known for his play on the defensive end, Chaplin's offensive abilities stretch beyond the dunks and inside scoring that a player of his size and abilities gets easily. His improved handle, jumpshot, and ability to get to certain spots on the floor will stand out this year as Meadowcreek prepares to defend its GHSA AAAAAAA state title.
  12. Strong additions to Coach Gregory's basketball team for next season. How many times has USF wrapped up their recruiting class this early? Chaplin is an incredible athlete to have in the backcourt and fits the hard playing and determination attitude that Coach Gregory likes.
  13. Oak Hill Academy center B.J. Mack committed to USF. @USFBulls_Rivals @RealBenMcCool https://t.co/osqX9CZ6jV
  14. It hasn't been talked about on here but Coach Gregory and his staff having been doing work on the recruiting trail for the upcoming classes. With only 2 available scholarships for the 2019 class, USF appears to be focusing in on wing and post players for fall signings. If someone leaves like to graduate transfer, then they will sign someone to replace him in the late period.
  15. Yes we are and I believe he will. The 3rd season is looking like it will be USF coming out party. Although I'm not counting out this coming one just yet...
  16. What a sensational transfer this one was. I remember following Zack's recruitment in high school and he's really good.
  17. Great article. Didn't know that momma could hoop like that. Young David had his wotk cut out for him if he's going to wrestle away the Best Basketball Player award from his mother.
  18. On paper this looks like an excellent hire and worthy successor to Chad Dollar who did a great job in his to short stint at USF. USF needs to keep recruiting the areas outside the home state such as Georgia, the Carolina area, Maryland, and Virginia.
  19. As long as he didn't get it from us. If USF can get him Coach Gregory will party like it's 1999.
  20. Yes Prince is scheduled to visit this Wednesday according to reports. Not the Purple Rain star but former First Love Hoops star Prince Oduro. The 6-8 forward committed and played at Siena University for 1 season and averaged 9pts and 5rebs per game as a true freshman. Very sought after transfer and he's pretty much narrowed his list to Miss St, South Florida and Seton Hall. New Mexico and UMASS are also in the mix. Prince visited Miss St this pass weekend and is scheduled to be at USF Wednesday. Seton Hall visit is yet TBD. Jon Rothstein‏Verified account @JonRothstein Siena transfer Prince Oduro tells me he will visit South Florida on Wednesday. Oduro is a First Love Hoops Alumni of the 2017 class just like our own David Collins. Also like David Collins did at USF, Prince Oduro made All Conference freshman team as well for Siena University in the MAAC. Here's his mix tape from his senior season at First Love Hoops. You'll also notice that David Collins is dishing this guy some sweet passes for layups and vicious dunks.
  21. michael wynn‏ @MICHAEL_WYNN2 Blessed I’ve received another offer from the university of south Florida Well as Coach Gregory continues his very frustrating search to fill his 3 remaining scholarships for the 2018 class, Wynn is the latest name down the recruiting that hasn't yet left USF alone at the party. All yeah btw Wichita State has offered this kid as well. Wynn originally committed and signed with ECU last fall but was allowed out his scholarship this month to seek another destination. I guess the only good news is that Wynn IS NOT A LOCAL PROSPECT FROM FLORIDA. Local prospects and USF men basketball go about as well as oil and water mixing.
  22. Never took a visit to Auburn. Took OV to SMU, WSU, and visited USF last weekend.
