  1. If we can somehow manage to beat KU on road and RU at home, then we will be for real. Until then, no, because we really haven't played very tough competition yet. Although it is obvious we are getting better.
  2. Says who. The pollsters. Have they played a tough game yet??? Actually thier QB play is worse than it was last year, while ours is better than it was last year. Atmittedly we lost AH from last year and our running game is much worse, but some areas are better than last year. And, don't forget, RU started out hot last year too and slumped toward the end of year, just like we did. RU is just a media darling right now and recieving votes from pollsters after beating a bad UNC team, a horrible Ill team, etc. Their coach is in the media talking up thier team and people are buying it because they have been bad so long. I don't know what your basing that they are "MUCH" better this year than last. They are good, I am not discounting that. Ray Rice has ran wild over some bad teams. But check out thier qb stats, his play has been VERY suspect so far. They look like a carbon copy of our team last year. Great RB, no consisten qb play. RU is a decent team, but it remains to be seen after playing decent competition if they are in fact "much better". I'm not saying we have played great or played anyone yet, but based on both teams records and games from last year (45-31 at RU included) and this, it should be a pick em to us favored by a point or 2, since it is in Tampa - my opinion.
  3. Why does it bother me that a team we beat by 14 points last year, has the same record we do, both teams went to bowl games last year. But according to the press, RU is light years ahead of us??? Plus the game is to be played in Tampa, and they are supposed to blow us out or something. It could happen, but I see a close game, it's not like one program is so far ahead of the other.
  4. Let's wait until the contracts are signed before we say for sure who is replacing who. It could very well be some CUSA teams like USM, Tulsa, Rice, Houston, Army, Navy, Etc. ect. replacing UCF. Could be Ball State too, but we don't know yet. Anything could change at this point.
  5. I keep hearing this repeated, but this is not necessarily true. Who is to say these future projected games agains USM and other CUSA teams are not the replacements for UCF?
  6. We will have at least one upper level BCS OOC team to play every year that will give us all the national exposure you can stand if you win (UM, UF, AU, more to follow).  That is in addition to playing WVU/UL every year.  Plenty of chances for exposure if you win them.  How many of these games do you want?  Do you want to play a murderers row of 5 top level BCS teams for your OOC schedule???  Nobody does that.  Not even USC.
  7. We're at least 6 points worse than the Toledo Rockets?
  8. At least WVU is getting 5 out of 7 home games (after winning 2 out of first 3, which they will)...Give me that deal, and I might think about it. Question...Why isn't GOL hounding FAU for an annual rivalry. Why isn't he calling FAU out in paper. Why isn't he challenging them to a duel every 5 seconds. It is because they have nothing to gain from that. Just as we have absolutely nothing to gain. And people can not see that for some reason.
  9. Ean should be leading the world in return yardage right now (if not for stupid penalties). He would have gotten serious air time if all of those had counted.
  10. You always cite how if things went one way we would have won the game by X amount of points. TX I'm sorry but in most cases you just cannot do that. If it's a totally outrageous call, I might give it to you, but that's what separates the good teams from the great teams. Special teams are probably the most important aspect of the game because they are only out there for a number of plays a game and if something does go wrong it's extremely hard to fix because you don't get them back on the field til the next punt, or XP, or kick off, etc. We won the 1st 3 games in a manner that we should have because that's how we played. Our special teams are not very good right now, however whether a team scores on a 50 yard bomb or a blocked punt it's still worth 7. Agree...Due to our special teams play. Correct that and these games wouldn't have been nearly as close. That's all I'm saying.
  11. One other fallacy i see is the fact that we have had close games indicates we have played poor. Special teams has been poor, but the O and D have both been good. 1) Blocked punt against MSU. If we had a punter that could hang on to ball, we nearly shut them out. 2) Penalties on punt returns. If we hadn't committed the penalties on Ean's returns against FIU, we would have won by 3 tds and you guys would have said how good we played. Plus we gave them a td on the end of first have by committing 30 yards of penalties after stopping them. Score never should have happened. Fix these little miscues and we win by 3-4 tds. 3) See item # 1 against CFU. Could have been a 14 pt win easily. If we had fixed the special teams from get go we could have won all 3 games handily, and you guys wouldn't be complaining that we had barely beaten inferior competition. These special teams miscues have made is seem as we can barely compete with poor teams when if fact we are playing better overall and improving each week.
  12. I have a hard time we will be brought to reality by a Rutgers team that we beat by 14 on the road, and we are playing them at home this time. Granted RU is improved, but the article sounds like we have no chance against RU and that is just not true.
  13. Eveyone plays a 1-AA team. Who cares who it is, a 1AA is a 1AA team. An easy W. The media doesn't care which 1-AA team you play.
  14. Perhaps? I don't think there is any doubt we are better off with Grothe. He has much better passing skills than CHill. CHill was a tremendous athlete, but a work in progress quarterback.
  15. We could be good for a long time too. Hate to bring this up, but we have beaten UL 2 out of past 3 years. UL is just the it thing now that they won this game, but if we get some big w's we could do the exact same thing.
  16. My opinion, UCF is a better opponent than FIU, but we played way worse against FIU.  Against FIU, we had 2 tds called back from penalties and gave them 2 freebie tds (the int return and the td they scored before the half, that we gave them with 30 yards of penalties, after we had stopped them on 4th down).  If we had played the way we did against UCF when we had played FIU we would have won by 3tds at least, not 7 points.
  17. UL will eventually lose Bush and Brohm for good, not just to injury, and come back to earth. Meanwhile we could continue to improve and be a hip choice next year for this game. It could still happen.
  18. For those complainers that say we don't schedule enough good teams, we have Auburn, Florida, and Miami coming up. What else do you want. You can't have ALL tough games. There are plenty of mid level bcs games too.
  19. Doc you're a class act compared to some of the opposing fans who post on here. Good luck the rest of the way. Hopfully we can knock off Kansas, because the next 2 games are at home after that.
  20. Beating a top 10 UL and WVU would not get us into top 25? That's probably the most uneducated statement I've heard all day from a so called "nerd"
  21. Those are not rivalries. They are temporary series. HUGE Difference. Do you think either WVU or LSU considers these teams rivalries. A rivalry is a game that absolutely HAS to be played EVERY single year for the next 50 years. For example, USC-ND, UM-OSU, FSU-UF, Ala-Auburn, etc. etc. etc. These do not fit into that category and should not be included!
  22. I am trying very hard not to drink the koolaid yet, couple more w's and play like this from MG and I will have to start drinking the koolaid.
  23. A point I made earlier in the week...and a good one.  When we get the annual rivalry with Miami, let's schedule UCF to some games. If is is a deal like WVU gave Marshall, no 1-1 deals. If and only if would I like us to think about it then. They can take it or leave it, up to them. If they leave it, so be it.
  24. We already have a 2-2 with Miami, which may lead to more home and homes with these schools, if and when we start to win some against UM.
