  1. Kansas has beaten a lot of big 12 teams at home the past couple years.
  2. Progress may not be at the lightning speed it was in the early years of program, but it has not stalled either. Things are still moving forward, even if there are a few speedbumps this year.
  3. Probably named for Phog Allen, the legendary Kansas basketball coach.
  4. He might consider it, but I just don't think he'll go. This is his baby, and he has put too much blood sweat and tears into USF. Plus we know money isn't a factor, he could have made more at KSU. He has the opportunity to turn USF into a UM type program, to be the first, one of a kind. To build and be a legacy. Not follow a long line of coaches. Something has to be said for that. I thought he might go to K State, and it's my opinion that that was one of the few if any jobs he would have left for.
  5. Phog.net is the active board for those that like to post on opposing teams boards. Not the board listed in the opposing teams board section of this website or at the top of this thread.
  6. If he didn't take the K State job, He won't take the UM job.
  7. Don't forget Espn is located in the greater NY metro area (Connecticut)
  8. Actually, several USF alumni that represent parts of Hillsborough and/or Pinellas counties were behind this.  The USF 's lobbyist was able to convince them not to do it... but in 2000 and 2001, the discussion came from USF legislators - not UCF legislators. Oh, OK, I thought I heard/read that Orlando area legislators were threatening action before. Guess I was wrong.
  9. Good points, that's why I think it will go from a 14 point win on the road (last year) to a pick em game at home. Oh, and Teel may be back from last year, but if I remember correctly, he was not thier full time starter from last year although he did get some PT. He has not looked too good so far, although they haven't needed it yet because their running game has been outstanding.
  10. Yes they will. They wouldn't go if any of those teams were undefeated, but they would if they were 1 loss teams. What are you basing this statement on. has there ever been an undefeated BCS team that was bypassed in favor of a ONE loss team. An undefeated has been bypassed in favor of another undefeated, but not one loss team (at least that is my memory of the top of my head).
  11. 2 points. First I do not believe ND is going to run the table. Not the team I saw last week. Second, thier lost was by 26 points, not exactly a nailbiter, so hopefully the pollsters will remember they got blown out of the water at home.
  12. I actually think RU has a good team. And, I think it should be a pick em game. My only beef was he said RU would "roll" us. Based on what? The fact we beat them last year or the fact they beat "great" UNC and Ill teams? Which one?
  13. Oh, and I guess Furman would roll us too, right. Because they played UNC as tough as RU did.
  14. And your basing this on games agains a bad UNC team that barely beat Furman (FURMAN!!!!!!!!!), and an absolutely HORRIBLE Illinois team that lost to Syracuse by 10 at home, after Syr hadn't won in how long??? Furman played UNC almost as tough as RU. FURMAN!!!! Thier schedule has nearly been as suspect as ours. Let's see them play a good team first. They won't get it this week. Rutgers is a good team, no doubt about it. But I would like to see them play someone before saying thier a very good or great team, and I would also like to see thier qb pass for more than 100 yards a game (he has barely over 300 yds in 3 games). What are they going to do if a good D shuts down their running game
  15. You mean just like we gave them last year with Andre Hall? Don't look for a 200 yard day by Ray Rice like he had recently. Our D is to good for that. I'd be surprised if he got 100. Plus their pass game has been very suspect. Stack the line and make Teel beat you. Our DBs are good enough to stick with their receivers.
  16. The UCF players and fans want the game alot more than USF.  Check out this board and I bet it's 50/50 as to who wants the game.  UCF fans are probably 95/5 in favor of the game.  I do not want an annual game.  I would be ok with an occasional 2 game series ever decade or so or even a longer series if it is like the WVU/Marshall setup, but I don't want our program tied to UCF every year. Why isn't UCF hounding FAU for a rivalry every year.  They are in state and the fans could drive down there?  It is because UCF is the only one to really gain from this.  We've been over this a million times. florida legislature also wants this game The entire FL legislature wants this.  Thats ridiculous.  Maybe one or 2 legislators representing the Orlando area want it, but the "florida legislature" does not want this game.
  17. My opinion of a good schedule that is manageable, yet offers some challenges every year, in addition to conference schedule: -1-AA game - Who cares who it is against, tuneup -1A non Bcs game - tuneup, who cares who it is against -1A non Bcs game - challenge, TCU or USM like program, excellent pre conference game -1A Bcs game - winnable, who cares who it is. 1A Bcs game - Against a top level, top 10 bcs team, ie: UF, AU, etc. Play one game like this every year for instant recognition if we win. A schedule like this would be manageable, offer a bowl game every year, yet at the same time offer at least one big time OOC challenge every single year.

  19. Yes, absolutely.  W Mich will be replaced next season by UAB. Then Nevada replaces UAB the year after that. USF has two more games remaining in the series with UCF and a request (demand?) from UCF that the series continue.  So, USF decides not to go with UCF but to replace them with Ball State... then replace Ball State with Buffalo. So then, why is this a problem?  all teams do it. Well, you didn't ask that -- you basically asked how someone could use the word "replace" to describe what is happening. The problem I generally have with it is this: If USF wants to improve it's national standing, why downgrade the schedule?  Yes, there are problems having UCF as an annual series - but why not replace UCF with a TCU or Southern Miss or Bowling Green or Toledo or Akron??  Keep the non-BCS but bring in one of the better non-BCS teams. Going from UCF to Ball State to Buffalo is a significant downgrade in the schedule and does not help USF's "national standing" -- IMHO. So when FSU goes from West Mich to some other worse school, are they downgrading? I bet you wouldn't hear any complaining about that. I bet FSU supporters could care less who thier non bcs games are. You can't play a tCU every year. Why? because they are not available every year. We have made the decision to move of from UCF, but guess what, the TCU's and USMs are not available every year. Who cares, as long as we have 2 BCS OOC games, with one of them at top notch bcs game, who cares who the other opponents are.
  20. Won't happen as long as they are in CDOA no matter what george does. Face it, top recruits just aren't going to play Cdoa ball, they want to go to a bcs school. The best he can hope for is possibly becoming a Boise State or TCU. Not bad, but still not on par with top level bcs team that goes to bcs bowl year in year out. Non BCS teams have to basically go undefeated to even be considered for bcs bowl. Plus, I don't think they will ever get to the level of a TCU. If BE ever expands, they need to snap up TCU so fast it will make your head spin.
  21. Smazza's dream OOC schedule: USC, Ohio State, Florida, Texas, and Miami for our "breather" game... Meanwhile, the rest of the Big east is playing 1AA and non BCS teams. We start our 0-5, but somehow we are "prepared" for conference play after getting the beat down.
  22. USF NEEDS TO GET RECRUITS  AND NATIONAL RECOGNITION.THEY SEEM TO GET NEITHER THE  WELL KNOWN SCHOOLS CAN SCHEDULE 1AA TEAMS THEY HAVE SOMETHING USF DOESNT HAVE RECOGNITION YOU WILL ALL COMPLAIN FROM TIME TO TIME THAT USF GETS NO RESPECT.THEY NEVER WILL GET RESPECT PLAYING ELON,SANFORD AND WOOLARD. OTHER SCHOOLS WILL RECRUIT AGAINST USF SAYING OUR SCHEDULE WOULD NEVER GET USF IN CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. WE WILL SEE HOW OUR FIRST 3 GAMES PREPARRED THE TEAM FOR KANSAS.THE PROOF IS IN THE PUDDING. WE WIL ALL SEE YOU IS BETTER PREPARED ONE WEEK FROM FRIDAY NIGHT If we go 7-0 in conference play, we will get all the recognition and respect you can stand.
  23. Stomping on a logo has absolutely nothing to do with the outcome of a game. Let me repeat, stomping on a logo has nothing to do with an outcome of a game. If a team isn't prepared to play and needs the other team to stomp on a logo to get them jacked up, there is something wrong. It was coincidental...Louisville would have won the games the opponents stomped on logo anyway.
  24. ET was right. Oh and I would say that FIU is not the worst 1A team out there by a long shot. Teams like Temple are worse. If you put Temple and FIU on a nuetral field, who would you pick??? They are also much better than FAU.
