  1. Its hard to tell with the ticket count. No one is offically reporting it. I thought it was higher than 5000 too.... but then again I know alot of students bought tickets on ticketmaster (which doesnt count towards our allotment). WHICH SUCKS! BTW: Don't start these "personal bad records." It might be funny (and some are ) but we need ass the butts we can in those seats!
  2. http://www.charlotte.com/mld/charlotte/sports/special_packages/bowl_game/13527007.htm "Inside the stadium, Pack fans found a Carter-Finley atmosphere 175 miles from the campus. Much of the crowd of 57,937 bellowed "First Down" every time the sideline chains moved for the Pack. Red consumed the stands except for two small patches of green with 5,000 USF fans and marching band members." "N.C. State dominated Saturday's Meineke Car Care Bowl in the stands (and on the field), but it was hard to miss South Florida fans. Excited about reaching their first bowl game, they were a brash and boisterous small army in uptown streets and Bank of America Stadium seats. They donned green wigs and streaked their faces with gold paint, and possessed a hair-trigger to holler, "Go Bulls." C'mon... what are we to do? Young program, 10 hour car trip, during "family time" for some USF kicked butt in the stands and streets of Charlotte... numbers wont show that!
  3. Lol... proud band geek, baseball player, hopefully soon to be SG Director, and REALLY PROUD BULL! Whatever old smokey... welcome to the new U!
  4. BTW everyone... THANK JON! That man has been a HUGE part of our program (HOT). He has offered so much as an officer and member of KKPsi. THANKS MAN. GOOD LUCK IN THE REAL WORLD! Billy
  5. That hand is AMAZING!!!! I def saw that thing. BTW: New uniforms in 2006! We have that at least. They always cut our funding... ALOT. It's hard to fund us... we ask for more than half a million a year... thats $1 for every person we perform for! Only better things to come... with the teams (IT BETTER BE BETTER!) and the band. Count on it. GO BULLS!
  6. Hey Rockytop... stick that old dog tail between your legs and give up. You are a Tenn fan on a USF board. Have I never compared our band to USC, Tenn, FAMU, WVU, FSU, UF, UM, etc. True musicans don't do that. We call truce with fellow bandsmen. It's called being professional. Are we better? I couldn't tell ya. Nor could you. Give up the hate fest. Wow, one negative out of so much positive. THANK YOU BULLS FANS! Support us, and MORE SO athletics and the university. It's been 50 years this year... lets show the world what USF has to offer... acadmics and athletics! GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BULLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. Max said most of it... That trip was amazing. I'm glad we had a decent following in the stands... in that "sea" of red! Our fans we put up a fight, and I'm glad to agree that our band did too! Now we can look into the future and hope that new QB isn't like Denson. BTW Rockytop: We have 30 pages of music in our flips... I think Tenn has 2... and NC State had 4... and we had so much music that any random stuff they played, we still had. You have to play certain songs when certain situations arise and time resrictions limit songs too. Our team didn't quite change anything up during the game. Come on by Fowler Field during band camp in August and I'll personally make sure we play our 30 to 40 songs in a string for ya. "OHHHHHH ROCKY TOP." Enough said. (Nothing against the NC State band... we got to chat with them after the game... great guys and are a good band) We are already starting recruiting for next August and plan on being 250 to 300 strong. We want NOTHING more than to do EVERYTHING for our program and university. I'm personally on the recruiting hunt. I'll make goals. If you have anything that you think we can improve, let me know. I love new ideas. E-mail me at bdschmid@mail.usf.edu. Check us out at http://band.arts.usf.edu Again, thanks for the support guys... I'm e-mailing this thead to the director and officers. We really thank you for your support. In Bull Pride! GO BULLS!
  8. Baker (kicker) 1 for 1 Julmiste (QB) 8 for 27 enough said... let the kicker throw it
  9. I think we can all agree on one thing. This being the first season that we had a marketing department, they have been getting alot done. Obvoiusly more can be done, esp on-campus ads (some type of NON-MOVABLE sign, i know the people who steal signs). Some of our students seem to be brain dead... therefore needing reminding. This shouldnt be needed, but you know us. If you want to tell marketing your ideas... Kosha Irby (Associate Director of Athletics - Marketing/Event Management) (kirby@admin.usf.edu) is really open and willing to converse on ideas. He is obviously busy right about now... as they are also "in charge" of the spirit squads, production, and the band (the production end of it). Overall, I KNOW they are trying very VERY hard to improve. Ideas, even when coming from non-paid students , are always going to help build and grow a program. Of course I am writing this from my laptop in the Athletics hotel in Charlotte. I'm biased ;D. GO BULLS!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. Yea... sorry I still can't do anything about the CD or music files. I havent even heard the tracks yet!
  11. Wow.... I wish someone would build the H.O.T. its own practice field and a tiolet at least... ;D a storage building to replace that nasty "can not move" trailer at our field (accross from the Sun Dome) would be nice too... lol... **** you UM
  12. Part time Best Buy Car Fi USF Herd of Thunder Public Relations Director and Webmaster ;D
  13. I posted 230 for the band... which is the approx number we are bringing... but obviously thats a part of the Athletic Dept., which will bring just about everyone they can with them. But hey, we are lucky that Athletics can house, feed, and bring 230 H.O.T. people.... it will take close to $100,000 to do so.
  14. Thanks Ricky... and I agree... that game that is on each end of halftime is really nice! Of course, like I have said... its about supporting the teams, athletics, and the student body. Thats our job. I'm glad I am seeing good comments, with assorted "hey what if you could's." Thanks for the input, trust me... we listen and if we can, act on some of the things posted on this board. again.... THANKS!
  15. Def working on intonation, which will help us be in "tune" and therefore make us louder... AND my personal goal is 250 to 300 members for fall 06 and since its my job... I promise that everything we can do to grow the program and spirit of this university will be done! IN BULL PRIDE, Billy
  16. Great response, and thanks! We may have "outplayed" them, but like Mr B said on one of the boards... we shouldnt try to have band contests. Thats high school... we need to support the contest between the sports teams! As for FAMU, they are a different style, and I don't think the show they had in RJS was really up to the 100's normal par. I've seen them do better, but they still knoked some socks off huh?! The hotel I'm not 'sure' yet, but I believe its a doubletree from some of the paperwork i found in the office. No clue though, they havent offically announced anything. Knowing us, prolly 12 miles outside the city ;D
  17. Man... we have a lot of cocks on this board! I agree... the HOT program is an instrumental part of the Athletic programs of the university, being the backbone of the 12th man on the field. It doesnt hurt that people support the program, although I would only hope that more people support the universities athletic teams. Public Relations (PR) is not what band is about. Although, after adding two PR Lt's this year, we have seen incresed band enrollment and have been able to help better our program in many ways. We DO need a PR team so that we can rasie money for the program to be run and to help recruit, as well as many other things. It isnt bad that people support us... but they better be supporting the entire university! (PS: F off sam sneed)
  18. And to that... I must say Touche! We are a great university. Almost all of our programs are listed at the top of their respective areas. With over 42,000 students, we are the largest in the Big East and the second largest in the southeast US (behind UF by 1000 students). Our teams are going up against some of the hardest schedules in the country! Our support programs like band have grown leaps and bounds in only a decade. All and all... we arnt just a another brick in the wall... we are the UNIIIIVERSITY OF SOUTHHHH FLORIDA! All we need is to drag those 42,000+ students OUT OF THE CRACKS AND GET THEM TO THE GAMES!
  19. Well, half court or free throws... needless to say, we need to pack the Sun Dome for the big Michigan ESPN 2 game. We need to support our Bulls.
  20. I must admit... I was waiting for that one... and a Can of worms... that is... I wouldnt mind it! It would help bring togather a very spread university, and allow us to run our roost. Therefore allowing us to create a stadium that will benifit everyone AND would be functional from a college football atmosphere standpoint. But, I doubt this will happen soon. President Allan (1st USF pres) cancelled the building of a football stadium back in the 50s and 60s. Grrr.... We havent got much done in that area.
  21. It's a great question... who gets to shoot. Our luck it will be grandma from the John Knox Village... but you never know. I'm sure they will try to be fair... as whoever doesnt get it will have some VERY angry students awaiting him when he gets back up into the stands!
  22. 1. Intonation x 3 --------> REALLY AGREE, could be better 2. Spacing -----> seating in the stands? what ya talking about? 3. Volume/Sound..... (see #1, how about that?) (it's not the size.) -----------> same as 1 4. Uniforms. Glad they are getting new ones, I hated, HATED, the old ones. ----------> finally getting new ones... thank god Not to bad... I have to agree with most of that. Our intonation needs work... therefore making our sounds and volume really good. Gotta have the right logo! New uniforms were a must 3 years ago! Gezzz hating on Mr B... you know he posts on this site! Thanks for your input...
  23. THIS SAT 12/10 - Dodge Shootout MENS BASKETBALL v. MICHIGAN (3PM) WOMENS BBALL v. MICH STATE (6PM) One lucky student will get the chance to win a new dodge by getting 2 of 3 free throws... and if he/she does... every student in the Sun Dome (with ID) will WIN $100!!!!!!!!!! No joke! Be there!
