  1. Oh, and of course tons of people outside of this board will care if he drinks and drives in his free time. My point is that college football is not keeping an eye on usf.
  2. Yes, you are correct. I can think of much worse crimes that are looked down upon by society. I didn't verbalize that very well. I guess I meant to say something more along the lines of the fact that society really looks down upon dui, but yet society commits dui a lot. Crimes that are looked more down upon than dui is not committed as much as dui is. I'm not going to walk up to MADD and tell this to them. There are many people who have lost lives due to dui, and I'm not trying to justify any of it. If anyone on the staff had killed someone due to dui, then we would be looking at both an entirely different punishment by usf and by the legal system. My point of my post is that there are a lot of professions, and important ones at that, that do not lose their job due to a dui... yet, we suddenly put a football coach above those other professions?
  3. 1. If you fail to submit to a breathalyzer, your license gets suspended for a year, no matter what. He is eligible for a business only license after 90 days suspension. (I looked it up) 2. No one but those on this board care about what a DL line coach at USF does in his free time. As it was said on here before, no one is watching a 2 - 10 team. They are watching teams that steal lobsters. 3. There is no reason why he should've lost his job over this. He isn't coaching minors. All of the players on the team are adults (over 18). He might be recruiting some minors. People always look at DUIs as something to just go and fire people over. There are many teachers of youth out there that have DUIs, attorneys with DUIs, Judges, Doctors, policeman, etc, etc.. You know who gets fired over DUIs? Truck Drivers. There are more non-professionals that probably lose their job over duis than professionals. I bet there are teachers at usf that have a dui. Should USF kick out or not accept students if they have a dui on their record? People need to get over it. DUIs is the most looked down upon crime, yet the most committed one by society. Lots of beer being sold at the stadium and drank in the parking lot, but how good is the public transportation away from it? Interesting question.... how many thousands of people do you think have more than 1 beer during the game (including the tailgate). How many taxis do you see leaving the stadium?
  4. I'm curious as to how the writer of the article thinks that you can get from USF, or even Raymond James Stadium, to Tarpon Springs in 30 minutes. :-)
  5. I've never seen a statistic of how many traffic related accidents are due to alcohol and how many aren't. And, I've also never seen a statistic that shows how many accidents would've happened whether or not a driver was drunk. MADD will tell you that ever accident that has ever happened was due to alcohol. But, we do need to be realistic. And, in being realistic, how are we putting a football coach on a higher pedestal and require higher moral conduct than other professions that are not fired due to dui? Lawmakers, congressmen, judges, TEACHERS of children, daycare workers, etc, etc, all can have a dui and not lose their job, but a sports coach can't? Come on. Is he driving the bus or flying the plane? They sell beer at the stadium and probably 20% or more of those that buy a beer in the stadium drive home after drinking it. And you know they do. I'm not saying that drinking and driving is ok,but Dui is the most commonly committed misdemeanor, but not everyone gets caught. but, when they do, oh boy, lets give them a life sentence and never let them work again.
  6. 1. I've seen comparisons on this thread on how Chase has played vs how USF rostered QBs played last season. This is comparine oranges to apples. You can't compare how Chase did against high school defenses vs how USF rostered defenses did against college defenses. That isn't fair to USF's QBs. 2. I watched Chase play against Plant this past season. This would be one of his few games where he maybe played against D1 talent and he was not good. In fact, Mike White played way better in his high school state championship game (against top players in the state) than Chase did this entire season. So, if you want to compare High School QBs, Mike White was a better high school QB than Litton is. 3. For some reason, tall pocket passsers have not done well at USF. Our top 3 qbs of all time, in no certain order, are Grothe, BJ Daniels, and Marquel Blackwell. None of them were tall, all of them were mobile. We don't need Payton Manning, we need Russel Wilson. Our head coach was a mobile QB. I'm sure his offensive philosophies would envision having a moble QB.
  7. I'm nay-saying on Litton just because we didn't get him. I watched him play in a couple of high school games this season and I really didn't think that he was a standout. Everyone talked about his size, just like they did Josh Freeman when he came to the bucs. Size doesn't win football games. Ask Russell Wilson. Litton was a fine qb, but he Mike White was a far better high school qb. In particular, I watched Wharton vs Plant (a game where he actually played against college level talent). He didn't appear to be a college level qb in that game. Where did he end up by the way? I like Flowers' athleticism. And, that said, who are the best QB's we have ever had here. My answer: (in no order), Grothe, BJ Daniels, and Blackwell. That is the type of qb that we have had excel here. None of them tall, all of them athletic. I'm happy with Flowers.
  8. Didn't Coach T say that he was surprised by the lack of existing talent that USF had? If he did say something to that affect, then he didn't show the existing players any respect in saying that, so why should they respect him? Realistically, when you have a coach change, you are going to have players that don't fit your system. But, I just don't understand why the system is so complicated to learn. Auburn's players seemed to have learned the new system pretty quickly.
  9. Eveld - Can't find an open receiver. Bench - Finds open receivers, but receivers don't catch it Maybe White we find the open receivers and the receivers will catch it. White is only a year younger than Bench. It is not like Bench is a senior or anything. Bench really hasn't been in this offense much longer that White. Heck, White's high school offense was probably more complex that ours. At least White's WRs would get open and catch the ball.
  10. Pot is legallized in Colorado. They don't care. LOL
  11. If Floyd is the best QB on the roster, adjust to him. If he isn't used to taking a snap from center, put him in the shotgun, run the pistol. Adjust to his skills. Don't criticize him if he skill set doesn't match the offense, adjust the offense to his skill set. It's called coaching. That said, maybe it is the center's fault. Is there a video of the game anywhere? Maybe we can see the bad exchange in slow motion.
  12. Is it just me or did it seem like the defender was all over him? I swear Landi barely got his 2nd hand up to try to catch the ball because the defender was hanging on him.
  13. So, you are saying that if you were offered a job in New Jersey for 5 years making $4 million a year (and took it), you would suddenly root for Rutgers while you were living up there? You wouldn't.
  14. Now everyone who uses this site will have to see the bulls hand and use it! Awesome!
  15. I think that Simmonds would be very good at recruiting from the local high schools.. Especially Jefferson.
  16. Mike, I wish you could get 1010 to turn the power up a little bit. I barely get your signal in south hillborough county.
  17. Every day around 4:50, Whitney Johnson has a USF Bulls update called "shootin' the bull". So, for all of you who don't listen or haven't listened in years, 620 has dedicated some time to USF. Whitney is a huge supporter of USF sports. If you are going to get onto Duemig for not talking about the Bulls very much, then you have to say that about all of the Tampa Bay media. For years during football season, the sports on the local news has been about highlights of FSU, UF, Miami, and then they may say a little something about USF. When USF beat WV this year, they finally talked USF football before the others.
  18. I'm surprised that it doesn't say: 1. Ohio State 2. Michigan 3. Notre Dame
  19. Smazza -- I thought that our receivers held onto the ball much better this year than in the past seasons. Some of it may have been from Grothe throwing a more catchable ball, but I thought that this year our receivers were very good. What makes you think that they were fundamentally terrible?
  20. I have to admit that every Big East team was up against a lesser opponent in this year's bowls... However, I'm hoping that if they go 5 - 0 in bowls, it will help them prove their worth even more and give us better and better bowl games in the future.
  21. Might be smart for Brohm to consider going pro. It doesn't seem like the draft is too deep at QB.
  22. "The 6-2, 220-pounder has been timed at 4.37 seconds in the 40-yard dash" Very nice! And he has 4 years of eligibility!
  23. If I heard right, the entire starting lineup for Brandon's basketball team got suspended for that fight..
