  1. Scout.com has a RB named Mike Brown listed as a prospect for usf. He's from Brandon and runs a 4.38. Says that he is the 2nd fastest florida recruit. Does anyone know much about him? How hard is USF pursuing him?
  2. Alton Voss is competition. From his game film shown (link is on the recruiting section of this board), Voss looks like a clone of Grothe and will fit in really well here/
  3. Shows me that if our defense and contain WV, then we can stop anyone we play.
  4. I think that we need less Jenn Sterger photos and more Brittany photos posted on this site
  5. Steve Deumig (3pm - 7pm) doesn't talk USF football much because he doesn't like to talk about a team that doesn't let the media talk to them (Leavitt banned the media, so he doesn't like to talk USF)
  6. I don't know how you can even compare Ohio State and Michigan to anyone else in the country. They both play in the same conference that isn't very strong this year. Because Ohio State played a 2-loss with freshman QB texas? Because Michigan played Notre Dame who has a weak schedule? I just don't see what makes them any better than the other top teams in the country. They are considered great after having a high scoring game. UL and WV were said to have "no defense" after a high scoring game. I'm sick of the nation giving such consideration to the Big 10. If Ohio State wins their bowl.. and Michigan wins the Rose bowl, then fine, rank them #1 and #2, but you can't just give them those rankings because they played each other.
  7. I think that USF may have the fastest defense that WV will play this year, so I hope that we can stop them -- (or slow them down a little bit) That being said, Pitt moved the ball on WV and our defense shut down Pitt. So, WV may have a weak defense. So, I think we'll be able to put up some points on WV.
  8. Do you all like it better that we have both WV and Louisville away one year, then both at home one year… and then both away, then both home? Or would you rather them be separated where we’d have one of them home and one of them away every year. I can see the pro’s and con’s for each.
  9. Shouldn't we just be happy that there are people at the games?
  10. Louisville and Rutgers also don't have a pro team that has to play on the field the next day.
  11. How old does a child have to be before he needs a ticket to the game? I'm thinking about bringing my son with me to Saturday's game, but don't know if he'll need a ticket or not...
  12. Let’s summarize the 6 pages of this discussion: 1. Yes, everyone does have the right to boo. 2. It’s not very nice to boo a player if he is coming in for an injured player. 3. PJ is our backup qb, not a very good qb, but is the 2nd best qb on our team. So, if Grothe gets hurt, PJ will most likely be the replacement during a close game. 4. If it is not a close game, and a qb is coming in to do mop up duty, then it may be a good idea to put the younger,#3 qb in because he could better use the experience to help us in the future.
  13. If you go to her website and read her bio -- Jenn attended USF for 2 years and went to high school in Tampa at Gaither. So, she has strong connections to Tampa
  14. I listen to Deumig every day and he loves to talk college football. But, since CJL won't talk to the press, Deumig refuses to talk much about USF.
  15. I agree. He definitely alligator armed it... on a side note, on the play before that, Grothe put the ball exactly where it needed to be, but the receiver had slowed down as he passed the db.
  16. Because of the moves and speed he’s shown on punt returns, I can’t help to think that we need to get the ball into Ean Randolph’s hands more. Not on pass patterns like curl routes or anything where he’ll be catching the ball in traffic, but into the open field some how. Maybe even some reverses. I know that Taurus Johnson displayed some great moves when he got a TD off of that reverse last weekend. But, I’d love to see Randolph run a reverse too. If he could get around the corner, I can’t help but think that he’d be gone. On a side note -- I think that the receivers are catching the ball better this year. I’m not saying that there haven’t been any dropped passes, but last year it seemed like when PJ would actually hit an open receiver, the receiver would drop the pass.
  17. Hey everyone… I’m looking forward to seeing more of Grothe this weekend. I know that we are going to have to go through some growing pains with him, but the key term here is “growingâ€Â. PJ unfortunately hasn’t shown much growth. I liked the leadership that Grothe showed on the field too. Anyway, I wanted to find out more info on Grothe. Was he highly recruited out of high school? What other schools were trying to get him when he signed with USF?
  18. I thought that Ponton looked pretty good as a backup last year. He averaged 4.1 yards per carry (as opposed to Andre Hall's 5.1 yards). So, if Moises beat out Ponton, then Moises may be a really good back for us.
  19. I'm happy to see J.R. Reed back in action. I know he had a serious injury. I thought that it was going to be a career ending injury.
  20. I don't understand why anyone would be upset at the Bucs for signing Hall. If anything, the Bucs should be praised for being the only team to take a chance on him. Noone drafted him. It was nice of the bucs to give him a chance! Whoever is saying "F" the bucs, is completely wrong here. You should be saying "F" to all of the other NFL teams that did not show an interest in him.
  21. I’d just like to get some other opinions on this. I was disappointed on how the season ended (especially the loss to uconn). But, I sat back and thought about my hopes the season before it started. And I was hoping that the Bulls would make a good showing in the Big East and would make a bowl game. As much as I would’ve liked to have seen the regular season end a little bit better, I have to admit that my expectations were met. What does everyone else think?
  22. Louisvilles QB is a freshman.. I don't know if that qualifies them as being "stacked" at that position. He did have decent stats when he came in last week. This is actually bad for us because their qb for next year will get some in game reps. However, playing against Miami in the Gator Bowl will probably shake the kids confidence. Also.. I've never seen our stadium be too good about announcing other scores. I wouldn't count on them making too many announcements about the Louisville game.
  23. Louisville's chances of beating UCONN just got a little bit less. Their QB, Brohm, is out for the season and they are now starting a freshman QB. They probably won't do so well in the Gator Bowl now either. .................................... Freshman Cantwell to start in Brohm's placeAssociated Press LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Louisville quarterback Brian Brohm will miss the rest of the season with a torn ligament in his right knee. Louisville QB Brian Brohm is 207-for-301, for 2,883 yards and 19 touchdowns in 2005. An MRI exam on Monday revealed Brohm tore the anterior cruciate ligament while scrambling for a 7-yard gain late in the third quarter of No. 16 Louisville's 41-17 win over Syracuse on Saturday. Brohm clutched the knee for several minutes before moving to a training table on the sidelines to watch the fourth quarter. "We're obviously disappointed in losing Brian for the year," Louisville coach Bobby Petrino said. "Brian was having a great season, and he was a big part of our success." Brohm has thrown for 2,883 yards and 19 touchdowns. Louisville (8-2, 4-2 Big East) finishes its regular season Saturday at Connecticut. Hunter Cantwell, a freshman, will make the first start of his career against the Huskies. Cantwell is 8-of-11 passing for 153 yards and a touchdown in mostly mop-up duty this season. On Monday, the Cardinals accepted an invitation to the Gator Bowl. It is expected that Louisville will face No. 10 Miami in Jacksonville on Jan. 2. Louisville gave Miami fits last year and hosts the Hurricanes early in the 2006 season. That would spark parallels to Miami's Orange Bowl appearance two years ago, when it played Florida State -- then opened the 2004 schedule against the Seminoles. Miami is scheduled to visit Louisville on Sept. 16.
