Louisville's chances of beating UCONN just got a little bit less. Their QB, Brohm, is out for the season and they are now starting a freshman QB. They probably won't do so well in the Gator Bowl now either. .................................... Freshman Cantwell to start in Brohm's placeAssociated Press LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Louisville quarterback Brian Brohm will miss the rest of the season with a torn ligament in his right knee. Louisville QB Brian Brohm is 207-for-301, for 2,883 yards and 19 touchdowns in 2005. An MRI exam on Monday revealed Brohm tore the anterior cruciate ligament while scrambling for a 7-yard gain late in the third quarter of No. 16 Louisville's 41-17 win over Syracuse on Saturday. Brohm clutched the knee for several minutes before moving to a training table on the sidelines to watch the fourth quarter. "We're obviously disappointed in losing Brian for the year," Louisville coach Bobby Petrino said. "Brian was having a great season, and he was a big part of our success." Brohm has thrown for 2,883 yards and 19 touchdowns. Louisville (8-2, 4-2 Big East) finishes its regular season Saturday at Connecticut. Hunter Cantwell, a freshman, will make the first start of his career against the Huskies. Cantwell is 8-of-11 passing for 153 yards and a touchdown in mostly mop-up duty this season. On Monday, the Cardinals accepted an invitation to the Gator Bowl. It is expected that Louisville will face No. 10 Miami in Jacksonville on Jan. 2. Louisville gave Miami fits last year and hosts the Hurricanes early in the 2006 season. That would spark parallels to Miami's Orange Bowl appearance two years ago, when it played Florida State -- then opened the 2004 schedule against the Seminoles. Miami is scheduled to visit Louisville on Sept. 16.
