  1. White has the talent around him at University like what he will have here. If Woulard dosen't want to come here then so be it. White will do a fine job and might have even beat him our for the start. Woulard is not the gotta have guy anymore. Just go watch some tape on White's University team in the playoffs. I agree with the talent we have (besides rb, which is huge in what appears to be our new system), I am very high on him and his future with USF; but, I don't see him coming in and challenging from day one. Depending on our QB situation next year, I think most likely we see him red shirted and let him learn the system (if he starts day one, I will be shocked and extremely impressed). I think with his size, smarts, pocket awareness, and arm (accuracy needs some work), he will be a monster for USF.
  2. NC State QB situation: Mike Glennon (Starter) - Done at NCST (no eligibility left), going pro. Pete Thomas - JR - Transfer from Colorado St. Garrett Leatham - So William Cooper - Fr Manny Stocker - Fr Under Armour Elite 25 QB Manny Stocker would be Asiantii's biggest competition from what I see. (again, dependent on who stays and who goes with coaching change). All QB's currently on roster are big QB's (all over 6 foot 3 besides Cooper, and all over 200 lbs). I also checked both NCstate and NIU to see if they had any potential QB's being recruited. Both have no True projected QB's coming in. NCstate would be a school where he could start relatively early IMO, I think it would come down to him and Manny Stocker (considered true Pro-Style QB) for playing time (dependent on how fast he would pick up the offense). But, personally I have been to NCstate (2008 game we destroyed them) and have a handful of relatives and friends that went there and it is a different place (no one came away loving the school). Different people, and totally different area than Tampa and USF. (They have produced some pretty decent qb's in the last 10 years, however). My 2 cents regarding this situation (USF - Asiantii) as of right now: I think whatever happens with Asiantii I will be happy with. If he comes here, I think our future will be very bright. I know he would start here from day one, and I think he would struggle getting started (just like most true Freshmans trying to pick up a new system and speed of game at next level); but, if that is his dad or not, it is someone who knows him and that to me is a little disconcerning. Every right or wrong move we make (USF, coaches and fans) will be broadcoast in a negative light to the other side (seems more of a headache than it is worth to be honest) whether that be Asiantii himself, or his family and friends. Picture if he goes to Tenn with all that potential and never really plays a meaningful down (similar to Matt Cassell , or Tom Brady), you know he and co. are going to make it known about their displeasure whether to message boards or media (likely transfer too). I realistically know where USF stands in the grand scheme of things, and understand that the coach he commited to is gone; but, this situation is starting to scream to me move on, nothing but trouble here. I think he wants/needs more attention (not saying that is a bad thing), and I'm not sure he would get that here. I prefer a close knit family that sticks together without outside drama trying to break them apart (similar to the Leavitt ousting). I need to check the juco ranks (anyone with info on strong potential juco QB transfers to USF would be appreciated). I love to see the work Taggart is doing with JUCO transfers, this will immediately fill some glaring holes we have. If Woulard decides in not commiting here (which I find highly likely), I think it opens the door to this possible option where we could patch the QB position up for the short term (I hope Taggart is looking at all his options right now, regardless of what becomes of the Asiantii situation - which I am sure he is). *I also think Eveld (big pro style) will fit Taggart's system well enough to get us through the year (with some work, remember he has an entire off season to learn offense not just a couple of months). I find it strange we haven't heard from D'vo more, in regards to recruiting him here. Last year they seemed inseperable. Again, I would love for him to come here, but if he doesn't want to be here I hope he doesn't come here (even if guaranteed the world).
  3. yep, that would be the HS Army All-American game that he is playing in. I wonder if he will just announce day of, or do the always entertaining shuffling of the hats. Would be cool to see one of our hats out there for such a big recruit; but, I will die laughing if he big times us! I would feel pretty proud if he picks us on national TV.
  4. You guys beat me too it on the Ferguson call. I predict that situation working out like UF with Driskel and Brissett.
  5. Utenn has nice facilities, good fans, and is stable in SEC. (that said) I went through his offers, and he would be crazy to go to Utenn, unless: 1. He would be okay with sitting for a couple of years and/or fighting with Riley Ferguson (and company) for playing time. 2. Offer Asiantii and pushing out Riley Ferguson. They might (and should) offer Asiantii, but I'm betting (assuming) they promised Riley guaranteed time and don't want to push him out the door for Asiantii who has an extremely high ceiling but will be a little bit of a project. Currently on Tenns roster: Tyler Bray (starter) Junior 4* Nathan Peterman Freshman (#10 overall last year according to rivals) 3* Justin Worley Sophmore Joe Stocstill Patrick Ashford (currently have verbal commit from Tyler Ferguson who competed against Asiantii in Elite 11). I read that the fans think Tyler Bray will leave early, but if he doesn't (which I think is key for Asiantii and potential offer from Tenn) that would leave 7 qbs on roster (*dependent on who transfers if any due to coaching change). Wouldn't have that competition here and a couple other places that he has offers from. I, like others, am almost indifferent at this point. If he wants to be here he will be here, if not I'm not going to be too upset. (if Asiantii is out) I like what I see out of Mike White for the long term future (given what I think our offense will look like in the next couple of years), but would like to see a possible Juco pick up or a dedicated extreme amount of practice time with Eveld and/or Floyd. IMO, this position (with rb a close second) is the position of most worry for us going into next year.
  6. My brother just brought that up in regards to the changing game day traditions.. He mentioned that instead of the kids running out on the field, have Willie T drive a bus out on the field (like Gtech) with team on it (intro would be cooler than vtech), if only possible (like Outrunner said). As far as photoshop: (I picture something like LSU Freak style) )Willie T's face over Keanu Reeves face from the movie Speed with players in back of bus while Willie T is flying down the road (a lot of potential there, especially for an intro video).
  7. "All I do is win", at least till we win a game and please don't play it until the game is over. Sitting in 125, nothing is more embarrassing than hearing that song when we are down and opposing fans mocking us. Agree with fake cannon and HOTannouncer (got to go).
  8. Here are some of his highlights during yesterday's State Title Game. Again, some are bashing this kid, but USF isn't a school that can stockpile 5* QB's (nobody really can anymore). I'm saying I think this kid is a great steal if you can get a qb like Asiantii, I would be very happy with our future depth at this position if this is the case. Mike looks to have a lot of potential (just like Asiantii), but will still need some work.
  9. I watched both games today on BHSN and this is the player I was most impressed with (I didn't know USF offered him until E.T. mentioned it on rivals after the fact). There are obvious needs for USF and this is one of those positions. This kid was a great game manager, was impressed with most of his throws; but, the thing that impressed me the most was how he would look off receivers (could go through his progressions in play very smoothly). I could see this kid turning into a real player (especially in our new system with heady qb's which I love). If Asiantii comes on board the sky is the limit with this position IMO.
  10. I'm pretty impressed with how much information was put into this sub board in that short amount of time. Thank God it wasn't all jammed into one thread. Props to Brad for being such a Bad Ass board runner!
  11. Love the hire (my first choice personally) and love how quickly DW put it in writing. Let's get to work!
  12. Maybe he thinks we should have stolen him from Cincy? Probably more realistic than some of the other canidates in the coaching thread.
  13. Wether he is coming here or not, that was an awesome interview. You got to like the guy. Can't wait to see him and Greg going toe to toe.
  14. Doug was there early and presented an award on field during the 1st quarter. (to answer page 6 - on iPad and too lazy to quote).
  15. Tom o'brien out at NCState. I know he is verbally committed here still, but, this selfishly has to help our chances of locking him down now I would hope.
  16. I believe that coach was Troy Douglas; I bet he can't believe he would ever see a secondary as ****** as ours now!
  17. Great to see him out there, bouncing back from injury. I'm really rooting for that kid! This team (and coaches) could learn a lot from him about heart and determination.
  18. http://www.tampabay.com/blogs/bulls/content/holtz-explains-not-going-2-after-late-td This is from Greg Auman.
  19. What is funny, is if you watch Cosh's post-game he says the same thing over and over. They must corroborate their stories before approaching the media (like thieves creating an alibi). Maybe they should hang up their whistles, and just become non-discriminating fans. That way they could watch all teams compete, without the distraction of having to coach their own players; or maybe that is the problem, they are distracted by the other kids competing at such a higher level and can't concentrate properly on coaching. In all seriousness, they have nothing else they can really say (which is sad). Sometimes I wish we could see Holtz unload (I would love to be a fly on the wall in the locker room with no cameras rolling, but something tells me he probably doesn't show much emotion either); but, if he did unload to the media he would most likely lose whatever players he has left, lose the respect from any potential recruits, and most importantly (to him) he would most likely be terminated (blaming players rather than coaching). If someone hasn't created a drinking game for it they should. You could get drunk doing shots of beer for the amount of times these coaches say that during Greg's 5 min post game videos.
  20. He should have been doing it a lot sooner. I understand that the season wasn't technically over until the UM game, but I think we could see against Nevada (even the UT-Chatanooga game) that this year problably wouldn't be that spectacular. The upperclass has to be the most disappointing class in USF history (as compared to recruiting, and I was here in 2004). Idc if it would be to prove a point that your spot isn't guaranteed, or to prepare for next year. There have been a small portion of upperclassman that I have been truly impressed with, and I understand that there isn't tremendous depth on this team; but for those that have either seemed to quit or just truly aren't as good as advertised, let me just say that I rather see young, hungry, inexperienced kids with fight than some of the ones starting over them. I'm disappointed that I missed Holtz saying that, but, that is the kind of coach this team needs IMO (might be too little too late for him though). Should be interesting to see how Senior Night plays out.
  21. +3 How many teams from d3-d1 BCS (who most have been playing football for over 75+ years) can have said and did as much as we did in 10 years (deserved or not).
  22. I was a pro-Leavitt guy, but thought Skip would be a great hire if it had to be. IMO Skip has done everything in his power to deserve firing. I know this isn't the pros, and USF is turning into desperate times when it comes to conference realignment; but, when will we say a coach has overstayed his welcome (became stale, whether that be with fans, management, or most importantly players)? (not stating, more so just asking when a regime becomes a detriment in the long run to the University they represent). Every phase of his coaching (team management, game management, player development) is evedently extremely poor; and I would assume for even guys like Data, Trip, slick etc. that eventually (for the benefit of BOTH sides) it be best we go our separate ways. Edit: I would like to add I didnt expect USF to win, nor do I see us winning next week. Speaking to this future off season and most likely beyond.
