  1. nah there will be one spot at least. they know that they bring in a much larger audience when fans of the lower conferences feel their team has a chance. just like the basketball tourney
  2. By your logic, ucf (or any school that has moved up) wouldn't get a pay bump.
  3. they were ahead to begin with, we passed them to the BE, they then passed us to the big 16, and we will pass them again when we have facilities that put theirs to shame.
  4. he definitely couldn't get out of his own way when it came to coaching. always panicked. he had the worst mindset of any coach. he came in with a belief that he couldn't win for one reason or another and made his players believe the same. always saying it was a multi year rebuild or covid set us back or blah blah blah...
  5. the acc is going to give the extra money they receive from 3 additions to the top performers in their conference. just the start of unequal revenue sharing within conferences. soon vandy will get less than alabama, northwestern will get less than osu, etc.
  6. scott was awful. not going to argue otherwise but the only difference between scott and strong was that scott wasn't left with a loaded roster.
  7. Nah it was more the administrations I think. ECU had Chris Johnson when Skip was there. Not sure that guy was eligible anywhere else in the country. I think USF tightened up recruiting for Skip.
  8. I agree, Skip is not even close to the worst coach in our history. Strong and Scott can battle it out there. That being said, USFs all time football winning percentage is .521. Holtz is .557 in college. That's about 1/2 of a game better every year. Not exactly world beater numbers. Holtz was the "safe" hire. Good guy. He was the anti-Leavitt in personality. Nothing real impressive about his resume though with the exception of the usfl which is a completely different beast. Recruiting is what hurt him here. The administration may have had an effect on that though.
  9. someone else will step up. hopefully us. 10 years ago it was WVU, Pitt, etc going to these games. UCF Houston stepped up to fill their void. interesting article on the downside of moving up. Great that programs get more money but it comes at the expense of winning. personally as a fan I'd rather be at a level where we can win than at a level where we makes lots of money. Price of college football realignment: Losing seasons, stiffer competition SPORTS.YAHOO.COM The grass and cash may look greener elsewhere, but tradeoff for college realignment is often more losing. Few teams sustained success in new leagues.
  10. quick question how many national championships have current(- texas and ou) football programs in the big 12 won? how many in the ACC? Duke Virginia and G Tech aren't going anywhere. Louisville, Syracuse, Pitt, UNC, Duke, Miami, NC State, Virginia. pretty solid basketball programs. sorry but the big 12 is equal (barely) to the ACC. it's why they have had to restructure after losing texas, ou, nebraska, texas am, missouri, etc. how many has the acc lost? the ACC has a media deal through 2036. FSU, Clemson ,etc will be paying a ginormous exit fee. Why would teams walk away? Big 10 is paying out 1/2 to oregon / wash. Big 12 says they are full.
  11. notice he doesn't say anything about California and texas. He says Dallas and San Fran. and the additional boost is for the year not per month even if you take your 15m subscribers (estimated at 1.5m in Dallas), you only come up with an additional $15m x $1.25 = $18.75m. That's like $1m per team. Wouldn't even cover the cost of additional travel.
  12. sorry but if we win the conference we are most likely in if the setup stays the same. Vandy has been in the SEC since 1932. They have never won their division let alone the conference. Tulane has more SEC titles than Miss State, Kentucky, Arkansas, Missouri, South Carolina, Texas AM and Vandy COMBINED
  13. again all he is saying is that if they carry the acc network on their basic tier then yes they would have to pay an in-state fee vs an out of state fee. ie in market subscriber fees this amounts to a couple of dollars per year for cable subscribers (dying breed) in Dallas and San Fran.
  14. now list the 51 power conference teams that are 0-36 still think it will be easier for a top G5 team to make it than a bottom P5.
  15. yes 1 of 14 programs and that is what you are arguing. You are comparing different programs and how it is more difficult for certain programs to make the playoffs.
  16. so if you're following that random wvu fan as far as carriage fees, just know he is wrong. the former espn executive said that if acc network is carried on basic tier then there would be a couple of dollars difference for the year. They have an instate rate and an out of state rate. Nobody can be forced to carry acc network on basic tier.
  17. What happened when texas and OU left big 12? ACC is not going anywhere. SEC and Big 10 are not going to bring in duke uva and g tech. ACC has a very valuable basketball inventory and are just as valuable (probably more) than the big 12 in football.
  18. if we stay in G5 and G5 still gets a guaranteed playoff spot then we will make the playoffs before Vandy or Rutgers. Heck I'd bet even before UCF
  19. I'm not sure why Miami is mentioned so much. They've done nothing in the ACC. won one division championship in 2017 and lost 38-3 in conference championship game. their glory days are long past.
