  1. No SEC team is worthy of NC this year. No ACC team is worthy of NC. No Big12 team is worthy. What's your point? florida isnt worthy? come back when you know the game tell your school to schedule real teams OOC Did you seriously imply UF is worthy after they botched multiple snaps in a game against an average opponent? That anemic offense is a joke. UF doesn't run the ball well at all. How many championship teams have done well without having a good running threat? The only POSSIBLY worthy SEC team is Arkansas. UF might warrant a look IF they can even get by them. Even then, their schedule is BARELY harder than rutgers, and easier than USC's and maybe even Notre Dame's. UF needs a lot of help before they even merit consideration in the NC game. Why don't YOU learn a little bit about objective analysis of football teams, and then try again? There are a good 4 or 5 teams with 1 or fewer losses that unlike UF CAN handle snaps, CAN run the ball, and CAN score.
  2. He'll be fine, he'll just do what every other coach that doesn't make it at a higher level does - drop down to a hurting 1-a school or 1-aa, build some success, and if he wants to try to come back.
  3. Me too, but the last thing I want to see is him getting 100k annually until 2012 for sitting at home picking his teeth.
  4. I agree with your feelings. I understand that Thed had grade problems, but unless he missed every signle class and was failing I just don't understand ending his senior season 3 games early. Yeah, sure. Why do they need to ever show up to class? This is a university, not like some place where they are supposed to get an education or something... There are a lot of classes where the only time you need to show up is to take a test. The bottom line is that you need to get passing grades though. If he wasn't, JL did the right thing no questions asked. Anyway, back to the original topic. I don't think Grothe will EVER get it 100% silent there. What about the USF fans? What will THEY being doing when we're up by 30? I bet the answer isn't "sitting down and being quiet."
  5. I guess, since we won 5 straight since rutgers, that the cincy game never happened either. We need more intelligent people to be writing this stuff...or is it that there aren't enough to go around? It's basic research. It can't be THAT hard.
  6. Tebow has proven nothing in the passing game yet. Don't get ahead of yourself. He is a GREAT physical specimen, sure. Remember, so is Julmiste. Leak is a clear #1 in FL. His td-int ratio and total passing yards say so quite emphatically. Weatherford over grothe? more picks than td's and i got benched weatherford? What are you looking at? He and lee being immature as passers is a big reason that FSU is .500. Kyle wright/grothe is iffy, but again you have to wonder about why miami is .500, and why wright neither has better statistics nor a starting position. 1. Leak 2. Grothe 3. Wright 4. Moffet (seriously, he has no help and is doing better than some others) 5. Tebow (great potential to leap to 1 or 2, right now is almost used as a RB) 6. Weatherford 7. Lee Go ahead and flip flop 6 and 7 if you want, but i think weatherford is a little better. Same with 3 and 4.
  7. ummm, Id take Leak. Leak #1 Grothe #2 X. Lee #3 You were doing good until #3. If you like pat julmiste and denson, then lee is RIGHT up your alley. I'd take moffet, weathorford, tebow, and one of the UM QB's in front of that disaster (not necessarily in taht order tho) in addition to the obvious top 2 you mentioned.
  8. Reason #124 that human polls are biased. I bet you'll find that computer result VERY different after the michigan game. What the computers do that human polls don't is ONLY look at what's occurred in a season so far. OSU's best win to date? 2 loss texas. Rutgers best win? ONE loss Louisville. Ohio State hasn't played a great amount of top notch teams that RU hasn't. In fact, they skipped wisconsin entirely this year. Who did they beat other than texas that's worth anything more than any of rutgers' non UL opponents? Exactly. Even if OSU looks better on the field, RU has won just as meaningful games.
  9. You're probably right. Even though rutgers deserves it (IF IF IF they win out, and that's a big assumption), USC is the most qualified otherwise. They have a nasty schedule and have played relatively well (unlike UF, they can get snaps right). Also, if it comes down to USC/Ark, USC would come out on top by virtue of that game 1 slaughter.
  10. You're right, basketball season is far from over. Baseball too. We still have a good chance. If you expect Rutgers to lose to that ponderous offense we played today AND cincy, you're expecting a bit much. However, you'd be expecting even more if you think the biased media/coaches would give us enough votes to hand us the BCS ranking league tiebreaker. Forget it, I hope we win every single game left on the schedule. I think it's actually possible, although unlikely. But count out a BE BCS berth for the Bulls this season. The BCS will try to avoid that at all costs.
  11. You ARE being petty. Fans come and go as they choose. While I don't like leaving early, the fact that others take that option does make traffic move more evenly. More importantly, regardless of whether a person in the stands is a "true" fan or not, we're not at the level of attendance where it matters. When you're pulling 30k to a 60k+ stadium, half-assed fans are fine. If there was a mile long line just to get season tickets, then people should probably stay for the whole thing, because they'd be better fans. For now, take what you can get. Even half ass fans add to the atmosphere more than an empty seat.
  12. UF hasn't been dominating teams. Neither has Texas. Even OSU and Michigan had letdown games, but at least they didnt LOSE. Who did UF play that was SO brutal other than auburn (which they lost to) and Tenn? Tennesee isnt ranked as highly as either WVU OR Rutgers. Losing to a good team, while not as bad as losing normally is, should NEVER help a team with a loss get past team that doesnt have one. Don't go spouting that UGA and Vandy are so terrific either. I'm not going to say that RU SOS is harder or even quite as hard as UF's, but if Rutgers is undefeated it will have played enough top teams that the school should leap past the gators. Same goes for Texas (are nebraska and oklahoma, and TAMU really THAT much better than Rutgers' top conference opposition this season?) If RU doesnt get in undefeated (which is a big assumption mind you) then the system will indeed have failed. That doesn't mean it's worse than the old school pick whoever you feel like it days of 1 or even 2 loss teams winning the NC on a whim, but it's still a failure.
  13. The fact that this could be serious or sarcasm makes it a fun comment. Let's get rid of guys like Brad Johnson and Griese. Smooth. Let's NEVER build a cohesive offensive line. TB has been better than some other programs when it comes to personnel (i'm looking at you, oakland), but they're hardly a shining example for the league. You'd have to take a look @ NE for that...and I don't even like NE Who knows, maybe the broncos will trade away another halfback for another strong pick and use andre. It's worked with just about everyone except maurice clarett.
  14. They ARE independent, so they have that ability. Realisticly though, how often will they be eligible and NOT be picked?!
  15. QFT. I don't think we'll win, but if you're a fan you HAVE to cheer for your team. Otherwise, you're not a fan. Screw the BE. If USF won every game, we'd be fine.
  16. Not to take away from how badly that sucked, but they DID manage a win the game right before us, so we didn't officially snap any streaks there.
  17. I doubt it, UL's computer average is #3 now. If they beat Rutgers they'd pass Texas in the coaches poll (currently only 15 points down). But whatever, I hope it doesn't matter and we beat them. Those same computers had UL at 10 a week before. Them being at #3 this week means d1ck. Means they moved up 7 spots from 1 game, and if they won this week they'd make a run at #2 or #1 in the computer polls. They don't have any cupcake games left to lower their SOS. Thats your interpetation. But not only are the records of who you play a factor, but the records of the teams they played too. Too many factors go into them to say they will make a run at #1 or #2, especially when OSU/UM are at what .9 something. And UL isnt even to .8? Historical BCS computers used 2/3 of SOS as opponents' records, and the other 1/3 as opponents' opponents. If that is still in effect, there is absolutely no way beating a team with a winning record can hurt you unless your SOS is godly. Since UL's SOS ISN'T, and they are STILL ranked #3, it's safe to say that getting wins vs winning teams would pull their SOS up. And Gene can say whatever he wants. That magic ohio state team had to hold off a 4th and 5 just to win by a touchdown. That UF team with "such a hard schedule" beat Vanderbilt by what? If you're going to call not-quite-bowl teams tough games, then 6 out of the BE's 7 league games are just that. There is a counter argument floating around on ESPN from the dash, and it's a good read too. You can pretend the SEC is actually a lot harder if you want. The reality is though, that not one but just about EVERY SINGLE objective measure of SOS says that most teams in the top 10 are barely ahead of UL, WITH THE GAMES PLAYED THUS FAR. UL has a tougher closing schedule than the other teams. If UL wins out they go. Then again, maybe there should be a playoff system. After all, it's just too hard to get through conference play undefeated :.
  18. If we beat syracuse we're in. I'd like to see us win all of them though.
  19. Colley Matrix 1. BE 2. B10 3. SEC 4. Pac-10 5. Big 12 6. Acc 7. Independants. Eat that, MWC. 8. MWC Here's how Colley does it: # Each conference is grouped together as one mutual competitive entity. # All games are then treated as one conference vs. another. # Intra-conference games are ignored. # The ratings and rankings are computed by the Colley Matrix method, as usual. In other words, if you only go by play on the field and disregard margin of victory, these are the objective results. Mind you, Colley's rankings go up in accuracy dramatically each week as games are played. However, most of the remaining OOC games are bowls. Still, there is room for things to switch.
  20. Ponton is extremely athletic but I don't see him being any better than the other backs until he makes better reads.
  21. Just another form of homefield advantage cropping up.
  22. Boise just needs to go undefeated. Some of the teams ahead of them play each other. In fact, just out of the SEC championship game ONE of the 1 loss teams is going to fall. It is highly likely that more than 1 loses though. That would be enough for boise already.
  23. CJL could put him in for the 1st play and call an inside handoff or draw. Julmiste runs draws pretty well. His form on handoffs is SUPERB!
